How to Save Money at Bensonhurst Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have recently started coming here with my french bulldog. The staff here are extremely helpful and understanding. They are very receptive to both my needs and my pet’s. The visits are very quick and organized and overall great service!

I contacted the office and provided them with my dog's age several times. I also inquired about whether he was too young for a rabies shot. Unfortunately, my concerns were quickly dismissed, and they scheduled an appointment without addressing my questions. When I arrived at the office, they informed me that there would be a consultation fee. I explained that my dog had seen a with another vet just a week ago and requested to proceed with only the rabies shot. However, I was informed that the dog must be examined by a doctor for a rabies shot. I reiterated my query regarding my dog's age, expressing uncertainty if he was too young for the appointment, but they insisted that the vet needed to assess him in person to make a determination, all while going back and forth. My scheduled appointment was at 5:30 pm, but at 6:00 pm, I was informed that the vet had finished for the day and couldn't see me. Consequently, I had to return home (a 30 minute drive) with my two young kids and the dog, feeling frustrated and disappointed as my questions remained unanswered and dismissed and I was not seen.

STAY AWAY FROM THAT OFFICE!!! Everything was alright before the doctor in the office on Tuesday( July 18) The aggressive behaviour, yelling and screaming at the customers in the office 😳 . Inadequate behaviour was shocking. This doctor need a doctor himself to calm down. This kind people should not work there at all! Please keep your pets away from this horrible place!

Update: we have new kitten and Ishi had his first visit yesterday, Dr. Zawie was pretty awesome and happy to see us. He gave me advice on insurance and vaccinations Ishi will be needing soon as he is still a kitten. Since I had already had him neutered and microchipped there was no need to go into that just to get him and my other two cats some insurance. One of the kindest things they could of said that it was so nice to see me on a happy day, the last time I had been there was to put my cat Braveheart down sadly that time there wasn't much we could do but give him the compassion he deserved. In all I would recommend this place to anyone who needed pet care for dog or cat. Below is Ishi's first visit. Update: 04/17/2018 UPDATE: This place is awesome their patience with me and my other fur kids is beyond compare. I couldn't ask for more from their doctors and staff. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Previous 02/2017 This place is saving my cat's life right now, they are always kind when I've been calling to check up on him and very very compassionate! The place is clean with no pet smells like some vets even in the exam rooms themselves there is not the smell of antiseptic in the air. I started there with my Braveheart who has UTI problems. He hasn't had an infection in over a year now since we started him on the prescribed food we were recommended to feed to him. The costs are average yes of course its expensive for a pet's care but you show know this going in to owning a pet. Currently they are caring for my other cat Rammstein and I call every day and they always have a few minutes. Rammie's been diagnosed with CKD so depending on the info we are given today he will be most probably seeing them a bit I just hope the expense isn't too too high. No matter the outcome I will be forever grateful for all that they have done for both of my cats. I've been to several vets in Brooklyn after my original vet retired, the other one died, and two others that one was quite indifferent and the other mishandled Braveheart that he gets anxiety now going to the vet. Coming here was the best decision we could of made for both of cats. 1 week later still 02/2017 UPDATE: sadly my Rammstein passed away at home. We brought him here still afterward and they couldn't do enough for us, you could tell it was truly honest how sorry the entire staff was for our loss. If you have a pet live near by any of the doctors I've dealt with all three are great compassionate people. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars.
