How to Save Money at Throgs Neck animal hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My cat Sephiroth and I had a great experience at the Animal Hospital. It was clean, neat and organized. Masks and Social Distancing was practiced. Dr. Andy knew right away what my cat's dilemma was and by the next 2 days made my cat feel sooo much better than he did when he first came to him! Thank you Dr. Andy! Dr. Andy's assistant was a real gem. Friendly, attentive. Very nice lady! They will see my cats and I again soon! Pricey though!😺

Throgs Neck Animal Hospital/Dr. Andy has been our vet from day one. The day after I brought my puppy Malcolm home, I took him here for a check up. As a new dog mom, I had a lot of questions and each of them were answered with compassion. Unfortunately since then, my furson has had a few parasites. Each time, Dr. Andy has successful treated each of them. I have a lot of anxiety and it manifest itself with my puppy too. I am constantly worrying about his health, growth and overall wellness. I often have several questions and I never hesitate to call and ask. I realize this can be a bit much, but Throgs Neck Animal Hospital has never made me feel like my questions are silly or that they didn’t want to answer them. I am truly grateful for their patience and grace. (you dont find that often) Additionally, Mireya the Secretary is so kind. She has a warm and open spirit. It’s nice to walk into a place of business and be greeted by someone who seems to truly enjoy what they do. She always ask how myself and Malcolm are doing and will breakdown the bill for you when needed. In general, Malcolm and I are treated very well here. I trust Dr. Andy as he is a wealth of knowledge. We are looking forward to sharing Malcolm’s journey into adulthood and beyond with Throgs Neck Animal Hospital.

Duke's (Morkie)Veterinarian is located in the state of Florida and my husband and I was devastated when Duke became ill. We goggled our New York area, searching for a Veterinarian that would equal her expertise. After reading the comments and ratings of Throgs Neck Animal Hospital we decided to give them a try. We were more than pleased with the service Doctor Andrew provided. Duke was diagnosed and treated by Dr. Andrew he is a very knowledgeable and caring Veterinarian. Duke showed improvement that night. Doctor Andrew called to check on Duke the following day. The office staff called again two days later. Thank you! you guys are our Bronx best! I have read the previous comments regarding over pricing. I suggest to those who do not have pet insurance to invest in purchasing a policy. I will never put a price on Duke's care! Duke is well and that's all we can ask for!!!!

My first experience with Throgs Neck Animal hospital was quite pleasant. The front desk receptionist is super sweet and attentive to all your questions and concerns. I really appreciate her phone etiquette, very professional and quite informative. Dr. Andy is highly experienced in his field. He took care of Sofie's (my pooh) annual visit, vaccines, and dental trauma. I literally dropped her off at 9am by 10:45am I received a call she was ready for pick up. To my surprise, I found her in good spirits with beautiful pearly teeth. Dr. Andy, gave me specific instructions to follow for her antibiotics, weight loss, and dental maintenance. I am very please with the entire service. I highly recommend this establishment!
