How to Save Money at Ting Veterinary Acupuncture

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

To say that Dr Ting is a god sent and blessing is an understatement. I can’t thank her enough for her calming and compassionate demeanor and level of expertise and professionalism she has shown to me and my 9 year old rescue Gigi, a chihuahua daschund mix. Gigi out of no where developed ataxia, had difficulty walking with scissoring in her back legs. It was suspected she had irritated a disc due to underlying IVDD and she was in terrible pain and had muscle spasms. She was put on anti inflammatory’s and pain meds by her vet but they were providing her little temporary relief. I felt like I had to do more since it tore my heart to see her in pain and she wasn’t my Gigi that I knew her to be. I researched acupuncture for dogs and found Dr Ting and I’m so grateful I did. She has been doing acupuncture with Gigi for the past 4 weeks and Gigi has improved by leaps and bounds and is getting back to her energetic spit fire little self and it has not only put a smile on Gigi’s face but mine. If your unsure if acupuncture would work for your family pet I implore you to give Dr Ting a chance because she has changed my girls life ALL for the better and I highly recommend her!

Approximately 5 weeks ago we came home to find our 7 yr old Basset hound BIGG paralyzed in his hind legs. We rushed him to our Vet immediately. Our Vet recommended spinal surgery with no guarantee he would walk again. We were beside ourselves. My sister in law suggested trying accupuncture so I reached out to Dr Ting. Dr. Ting came to our home that week and started acupuncture and herbs on Bigg. She is very gentle and kind and Bigg loves his sessions with her. Thanks to Dr. Ting he is walking again and getting stronger everyday. He is back to being a happy hound dog again. We can't thank her enough for all she has done for us and our boy BIGG. 💙

Soon after our trusted family vet suggested acupuncture for our senior pup we met Dr. Ting, and we’re so grateful that we did. When you love your pet and want to do the best for them, having doctors on hand on whom you can truly count on is, as they say: Priceless! Our ex-racing greyhound turned 13 in March, weighs about 75 lbs., and has some degenerative discs among other issues. Leon has been happily seeing Dr. Ting (and assistant, Lauren) in the office for over 16 months now and has maintained a good quality of life thanks to his monthly acupuncture treatments and some herbal medication. He very infrequently may need a prescription med for inflammation. One morning, recently, Leon injured his spine and he wasn’t able to get up or move about- it was very worrisome. We wondered if there was anything else that we could do for him, he seemed so helpless without our assistance. Instead of an office visit, Dr. Ting came to the house to evaluate and treat him. Within an hour of the treatment, we noticed increased mobility well beyond our expectations, and after a second home visit he is walking completely on his own again. Amazing. I’ll echo here what I’ve read in other reviews: Dr. Ting is a caring professional and a wonderful person who knows her craft well and truly does have a magic touch. Leon is still here with us and enjoying life thanks to Dr. Ting. Thank you and again, we're so grateful.

Dr Ting is amazing, my Penny is dealing with Transitional cell carcinoma. I was told she only had a week or two. Dr Ting changed her diet added supplements and started acupuncture and has given Penny so much more time. I’m truly blessed to have been able to get to know and benefit from Dr Tings experience.

We can't say enough great things about Dr. Ting. Lexi was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma in May. Our regular vet said our only option was chemo and the prognosis was maybe 3 months. We heard about the benefits of holistic medicine and Dr. Ting came highly recommended. Since then, we've been seeing Dr. Ting weekly and Lexi has been treated with acupuncture, herbal supplements and diet change. The results are night and day. Lexi has amazing energy, appetite and overall quality of life. Dr. Ting is a phenomenal vet - she's highly communicative, answering all of our questions, and puts us and Lexi at ease. It's the one vet appointment we look forward to.
