How to Save Money at Urgent Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I ended up at this vet after a terrible experience at Dewitt Animal Hospital. Long story short Dewitt told us nothing was wrong with her physically after an exam but Auburn found a softball sized mass in her stomach that was the culprit of her blockage and lethargy. The Auburn Vet staff were all so compassionate and caring. The room we went into for her end of life care was so warm, inviting and cozy to say our goodbyes. There was a large dog bed with a pillow in there and couch for family to spend time. I was at peace with our decision to let her cross the rainbow bridge after the care we received at Auburn. People have left comments about their wait but you have to remember it’s an Urgent Care vet and you should expect a wait as you would an urgent care for yourself. We called at 430 and they had us in at 830 same evening. I highly recommend them if you are thinking about end of life options for your beloved pet.

We had a good experience there (as much as you can when saying goodbye to beloved family pet). Our dog’s health took a turn for the worse and they got us right in and were very kind about it. We’re grateful they were able to see us over the weekend instead of letting our sweet boy suffer until the following Monday. They also did a paw print, and even washed and returned the blanket that we brought in with him (completely unexpected but very much appreciated). We had him cremated, which was handled by the funeral home across the street (pettigrass)…also a good experience—they did a nice job. Prices were very reasonable and we paid something similar to what I’d expect from our regular vet.

Wonderful, kind and caring. This Urgent Care is full of people who genuinely listen. They trusted us when we said our Duke was acting strange, and were happy to help. (It was a Sunday and everyone else was closed). After some investigation they ended up finding an abnormal spot on our cat's lungs. Ultimately they helped us make the right decision, and after 15 years we had to say goodbye to our beautiful girl. I'm so grateful for their kindness. Thanks to them Duke didn't have to suffer, nor did we. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

I spent hours trying to find someone who could help me with a cat that I found Everyone that I called showed no concern and just kept saying we are too full. I was referred to this place and so grateful that I was. Dr Reid and the wonderful staff truly saved his life. I only had limited money to work with and was convinced putting him down was the only decision. He is doing much better and I can't thank Dr Reid enough. He will be part of ny family. I already have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Thank you so much.

We had to put a beloved dog down. We chose this place only because of their availability. But we are so glad we did! They had a cozy room for us to give our final snuggles and goodbyes with our little guy. The staff was super friendly and gave us all the time we needed. They even offered us imprints of his little paws and they turned out beautifully! This was my first experience having to do this so I have nothing to compare it to but I was pleasantly surprised!
