How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I cannot say enough about the wonderful, attentive people at 24/7 Emergency Vet on Rampart. Tonight, they truly saved us. To set the scene: I came home after an hour-long commute to discover that my Amazon order of syringes for my diabetic dog’s insulin wouldn’t arrive until the next evening. Dougie requires insulin both morning and night, and skipping even a single dose could have serious consequences for his health. Dougie has a team of vets—two main ones and a third, which I’ll get to. His primary vet is across town, and I wouldn’t have made it before they closed. His second vet was also closing soon, so I went to Lone Mountain Animal Hospital, which is right down the street from my house. Despite having been a client there for minor treatments, they refused to help. The staff at the counter wouldn’t give me even a few syringes for a life-saving medication, citing prescription rules, even though syringes are sold over the counter at many pharmacies. Feeling frantic, I tried a local pharmacy, but they too were out. Dougie isn’t just a pet; he’s family. His health is a daily commitment, as he has diabetes, early-stage renal failure, and Cushing’s disease. Keeping him stable requires precision, dedication, and most importantly, support from our veterinary partners. Thankfully, the team at 24/7 Emergency Vet on Rampart was my saving grace tonight. They welcomed us without hesitation and provided the syringes we needed, at no charge. Because of their kindness and understanding, Dougie is safe and stable tonight. I’m beyond grateful and will always remember this gesture. Having reliable, compassionate support in our community makes all the difference, and Lone Mountain Animal Hospital fell short when we needed them most. I would not recommend Lone Mountain Animal Hospital to anyone. They’ve overcharged for procedures in the past, and tonight confirmed that they don’t truly prioritize patient care. If you’re looking for a veterinary clinic that actually cares, 24/7 Emergency Vet on Rampart is the place to go. They were there for Dougie when no one else was. 💖💖💖💖💖🙏✨✨✨🐶🐶💖

I went to VEG Summerlin for the first time this last weekend. I was caring for a pet that was not my own, Mollie, the beloved and sweet dog in photos attached. VEG is an open concept vet I had never experienced before. This is ground breaking and I hope the industry shifts to this model worldwide. The exceptional care, transparency, compassion, knowledge, and urgency that Mollie was treated with was next level. I spent 30 hours here at VEG, and not only was she given outstanding care - I was as well. Bittersweet ending as once Mollie’s family was able to fly back home urgently, we all said the most painful goodbye to this girl. Her memory is a blessing, and this emergency vet was a blessing as well. It was my first time visiting, and if I ever have an emergency need again - I won’t hesitate to take my beloved fur babies elsewhere. Thank you Dr. Hazard and everyone on night / graveyard shift especially.

I brought my cat in after I thought he was hit by a car. The service here was amazing. My cat and I were seen immediately. I love the fact you are allowed to stay by your animals side the entire time. The staff was so nice. They make you so comfortable and you can even stay overnight with your pet if you would like to. I will be recommending this vet to anyone that needs! Dorito is actually recovering at home we are so thankful for the care he received.

I highly recommend this vet ER. We never had to leave our dog’s side even during the surgery to repair the tear in her skin. The staff and doctors all had so much empathy and knowledge. Lots of follow up texts and emails. Love the open concept triage

Came in because our puppy hurt her back leg and our regular vet couldn't squeeze us in. From the start, it was a great experience given the circumstances. Fantastic staff and facility. Everything was very clean and we were checked on regularly while waiting. Thank you and kudos to the team that helped Ms. Chloe feel better.
