How to Save Money at Lake Mead Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

They saved my cat's life when other vets told me that I should put him to sleep and that's because I didn't want to pay the $3,000 bill they wanted to give me for testing to see what even had not only did lake Mead animal hospital perform those tests give him life-saving medications and kept him for several days to make sure that he was responding well to treatment even after all of that it was still under $500. . I even had one minute tell me that by taking him home and waiting to see another vet the next day that I was being cruel and not thinking of his quality of life. . . Others wouldn't even see me because he wasn't a patient. Lake Mead animal hospital took me in immediately the vet was thorough he explained everything was very clear on what he was going to be doing with my pet and thankfully he's still here today

House of Angel's. Love this place. My Golden Retriever had swollen gums and a bump on her nose. After taking her to Banfield because she is on their wellness plan which costs $680 a year, they did Xrays & needed biopsy for possible cancer on nose costing $890 extra and they told me a tooth most likely needed extraction. Took her back for extraction & biopsy and they said pulled one moler. Said give her antibiotics and pain meds for 5 days and she should recover from the swelling. Luckily the biopsy was negative for cancer. After calling them periodically they just kept saying she needs time to heal. 4 months later, Goldies mouth is still swollen so I take her in for examination. They tell me she needs more Xrays and maybe an extraction. Said she needs teeth cleaning again. I asked why because all but her Large right K9 was sparkling white? They said it's somethings you cant see without getting under gums. WhaT ??? Gave me bill to look over. The total was $860. - 1,182. WoW. And I'm positive I would have to pay even a few hundred more than the 1,182. So, I no longer trust Banfield with anything and so started searching maps for a good veterinarian. After several hours I came across this house of angels. The girl on phone was real nice and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. Vet Castro was professional acting and seemed to have a lot of experience. He examined Goldie with me in the room. Said he will do an Xray in morning 🌄. Next morning I drop her off. They let me put her in a cage in back. Wow never thought anyplace was so thoughtful. I was used to the Banfield way which is turn your pet over to them in the waiting room. In the seven years she went there I never met even one veterinarian. After several hours I get a call to pick up Goldie. They extracted the worst tooth which was the right K9 and a moler. Said the lump was just from the tooth infection. Total cost was under $600. and my baby is now recovering. Thank God's for 😇 Angel's. I will be taking Goldie here from now on.

The parking lot was a little small but they do what they can. However there staff is always helpful, they always answer the phone, and the seperate entrances for cat and dog, not overly enforced is nice. (Meaning i got cats nails trimmed and they did not say anything about me having my dog in that side and trimmed him right there too.) In fact Shannon is the women whom took care of my babies all nail trims, a few times. She is confident, relaxed, efficient, and you can tell she loves fur babies. She is clear with her schedule and gave extra love to my kitty with a small sprain in the ankle. Also the nail clips were 5 bucks. So that is very reasonable. Overall great experience good staff.
