How to Save Money at Flamingo Pet Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Great doctors that handle your pets with the utmost care. I've known Dr. Williams for 30 yrs. Dr. Kenton is the avian vet and is gentle with my Parrot. They handle him so professionally that he doesn't seem to mind the check up and grooming!

I visited Homeward Bound Cat Adoption! If you are looking to adopt a cat, I highly recommend this place. The environment is very friendly. You are not rushed. It is very clean. Everything on the cats are full disclosure. The location takes donations. If you have anything, unopened cat food, toys, carriers, etc. I suggest to go visit.

Dr. Williams is great. He's looked at my pitbulls and treated them like family, which easily made my dogs trust him. It is the only place I go for all my veterinarian needs for my dog.

I adopted an amazing cat from Homeward Bound, which is right next door. Of course, they work hand in hand with this clinic concerning their adoptive cats’ health. They have fallen short on the care of my cat as I was not given a prescription for my cat’s food. I was never told that she even needed a prescription. In fact, I was told that I could purchase her food anywhere. She has allergies that call for a specific Veterinarian prescribed food. Homeward Bound graciously provided an exit exam to assure she was in great health. I was not given a prescription at that time. I’m expected to take her back as if her health has changed within a week. My cat doesn’t need another exam. She needs to EAT. She was just adopted last week. However, she has to eat! Why can’t anyone explain why I was not provided a prescription? I’m thoroughly disappointed and will not recommend this clinic to ANYONE! To your reply… Regardless, the technician knew that in order to purchase her food, a prescription was needed and no one made sure that I left with the ability to buy it for her. You examined her on the day that I adopted her, after 2 weeks of fostering Lady Moone. I have established a relationship with another clinic that agreed that the matter could have been disclosed and handled better. They provided her prescription/authorization. The fit is perfect on both ends. I am grateful that your clinic discovered her allergies and took great care of her. We LOVE her. I wish you the best, but I stand by my review.

Recently I couldn't get an appointment for my dog at our usual veterinarian clinic when she was in great pain. I called Flamingo Pet Clinic and got her in next day I think. The Veterinarian doctor, Dr Michael Williams came in, got down on my GSD's level and allowed her time to get acquainted with him, and eventually she was giving him kisses. The doctor and the staff seemed really knowledgeable on how to approach and handle a frightened protective GSD. I was really amazed because before this all our previous vet visits were so stressful requiring muzzle and stress to my dog and me. She was diagnosed and the treatment was about 50% effective. On our follow-up visit they were able to saflely Xray her front legs which showed some abnormality. We are continuing her pain and arthritis meds and will watch for changes on next xray in a few months if pain persists. When we take our pets to vet doctor we are already worried and stressed out, but this team with their friendly, calm and confident demeanor is able put me at ease.
