How to Save Money at Westfield Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I absolutely love Westfield Animal Hospital, the doctors and staff are the most compassionate set of individuals when it comes to pets. I have two French bulldogs, while I love the breed, they're high maintenence & need to be treated with white gloves for pretty much everything. The staff at Westfield has always been super gentle with both dogs.

Very neat clean organized very attentive and knowledgeable staff very sympathetic and empathetic staff very informative veterinarian All super caring towards the animals and their caretakers I would recommend this facility to anyone that is looking for veterinarian care in that area hands down The office area and lobby is full of tons of informative literature and pamphlets for you to take home and some very unique artwork strewn about the walls in a very tasteful and elegant way and the other picture is of my bogey our foster dog that on the second day we had him we were forced to take him to this veterinarian which is how we've come to learn of them and we will be taking any animal from this point forward to this facility as opposed to going to our veterinarian of 12 years because the treatment we received there and the care we received their far exceeded anything that we have utilized to this point and our foster dog boogie was met with open arms like he was a rockstar and was made to feel very comfortable and safe which made going to the vet that much more pleasurable

I cannot believe after being a long time loyal customer, treating five dogs, I could not get an appointment for a simple ear infection. I’ve called multiple times to be put on hold for 20 minutes to hear the same thing “We’re completely booked, give us a call back at 8am to see if there are any cancellations.” I finally got an appointment, but unfortunately, the day off, my son got into a car accident. I called to notify them and all they told me was to call back at 8am. My dogs ear infection worsened over time, and I had no choice but to look for a new vet. Any pet owner knows this is the last thing they’d want, since it is a costly and tedious process. It was a good thing I did find a new vet, because it turns out my dog Rio was misdiagnosed. He has an undescended testicle, and he now needs surgery. Emotional… stressed… disappointed, to say the least. I wish this review was positive because I was always pleased with Dr. DeSimone, and Dr. Yhle. Unfortunately, the unprofessionalism has forced me to move on to a new vet.

Ugh the reviews are 100% accurate, they will put you on HOLD for 10-20mins minimum as soon as you call. It’s ridiculous. I have a pet emergency and can’t even talk to a person..I get “waiting” music. I can’t believe they still have this issue, after countless complaints for years. Speedy and effective communication is extremely important when it comes to choosing a vet place. Going to look elsewhere for attentive care and customer service, losing out on a consistent long term customer

If you have ferrets with Adrienal Disease bring them here. The Dr here was not only extremely kind but he was honest and affordable. I went to another DR in Parsippany at Companion Animal hospital and they wanted to charge me over $2000. The Dr here at Westfield only charged me $350 total. My ferret is now happy and healthy again thanks to Westfield Animal Hospital, and i can’t thank them enough
