How to Save Money at Caring Heart Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I've personally brought two dogs here and they are the best! I've had experiences with other local vets and there is a reason why I trust Caring Heart with my highly-reactive, likely formerly abused German Shepherd. Not only are doctors Kim and Chris fantastic at working with your pet at their level, but offer extremely reasonable pricing and convenient hours as well. Both doctors also offer (and explain) a variety of treatment options so you have the ability to choose what option is best for your pet and wallet. It should also go bounds to say that my former dog who lives with my ex (45 minutes away) still goes to Caring Heart as well. Dean thanks you every day for putting up with his antics turning off the lights and rolling around during his physical!

I've been taking my dog to this place for over a year now. As their name suggests, everyone here is genuinely caring about the health and happiness of pets. They are always very accommodating and flexible whenever we need something, and I'm confident that my dog is in good hands here. Everything went smoothly when my dog got spayed here. Following their instructions, she recovered within a couple of days without any issues. Also, once my dog had a serious allergic reaction, they took excellent care of her and even followed up with me for a couple of days to ensure she was fine.

I've only been taking my German Shepherd here for a few months as I've moved to NJ recently. I was worried about finding a new vet that I like as much as my old one, but I'm so glad I went with Caring Heart! Dr. Kim ran some routine tests and found a tick disease my dog had, but was so kind in explaining it to me and prescribed an antibiotic that worked great. The staff here is spectacular as well. I needed some records ASAP and sent an email this morning and by this afternoon they had sent the records back over. I'm so happy I got established at Caring Heart!

Dr Kim and all of her staff were absolutely amazing. We came in for our kitten’s first wellness exam. Not only did they handle our kitten with so much care, but the team was incredibly patient answering all of our questions. We spent almost an hour and a half with the team and we never once felt rushed to wrap up the appointment. We really had a pleasant experience and are grateful we found Caring Heart for our kitten.

Wish I could leave a worse rating. Tonight my dog was attacked by a dog in my neighborhood. Dr Chris had been taking care of our other dog for approximately 3 years. Bella was to have her first appointment on December 5th. My husband and son instinctively headed straight to caring heart. (It does class itself as an animal hospital.) I met them there but we WERE TURNED AWAY!! This supposed caring vet sent a tech out to say he was with another patient and refused to examine my dog!!!! We were told to drive to Red Bank in Hillsborough. This guy had no clue what condition this dog was in nor did he care!!!! I have had many animals in my life and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have experienced such a callous response to an injured animal. I will be filing complaints with every agency that oversees veterinarians. SO THANKS DR CHRIS FOR ADDING TO THE TRAUMA WE HAD ALREADY EXPERIENCED!!!! How do you sleep at night?
