How to Save Money at Marlton Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I can’t say enough good things about this practice! They were so wonderful to my fur babies, Riley and Peanut, for the respective 13 and 10 years that I had each dog. Dr. Luke was the only vet I ever trusted their care with, as he’s always been professional, compassionate, and honest. Riley and Peanut passed away within five months of each other last year (2023), and everyone in this office signed two beautiful cards that I was sent after I lost each pet. I will hold onto those cards forever, because they truly speak to how incredible the staff here is! Thank you again to Dr. Luke & the rest of the MAH staff for all you’ve done❤️ - Marisa Ashton

I’ve been bringing my babies here for 14 years. Dr Luke is an amazing vet! I trust him with their lives and he’s saved them on numerous occasions. Very knowledgeable.

Very disappointed in this place. They are a very fine practice with a few rude workers who unfortunately ruined our whole experience, and as a result, we will not be back. In short, I heard a receptionist speak over the phone in a completely unacceptable way. Im not sure if this person was already having a bad day, or if our decision on our dog’s medicine was affecting her pay, but she was speaking to a patient in a way that I personally think is unacceptable. Unfortunately, this person’s negative and disgusting tone was enough for my girlfriend and I to decide to take our dog elsewhere. I was honestly appalled just by the way she was speaking to a patient. It was hard to listen to, and I’m sure we can find a place that will give us the same good care that we received, minus the super bitter employee.

I’ve used them for many years and was very pleased, especially with Dr. Jeremy. Unfortunately, lately they are horrible and supposedly short staffed. Most recently, I called about my sweet rescue dog. They said they would call back and never did. I wound up taking her to an awesome emergency vet who had to put her to rest. I’ve spoken to friends that have had similar experiences in the past two years. I’m devastated and heart broken!!

I honestly don’t write reviews but I had to for this place… let me just start off by saying thank you to everyone’s patience & understanding from the staff. Unfortunately, I only remember the Dr’s name Jordan G. & one of the nurses ? Stephanie.. and I unfortunately cannot remember the other girls name & everyone else but they were ALL super comforting… since I came in devastated on a Saturday night over one of my birdies passing Pelé🦜 … sadly the other blue baby bird Chona past the next day.. I am so grateful for them… and I wish I could live closer to their center because without a doubt I would only be visiting them. I would definitely recommend anyone who is searching for a vet to come here. The staff is wonderful. Thank you once again. ❤️
