How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

FOREVER GRATEFUL!!! PLEASE READ. INMENSAMENTE AGRADECIDA. There are not enough words to express my gratitude to the Doctors, nurses, staff aka Angels at VEG. Thank you for saving my Frankie's life!! My dog was agonizing when we brought him in. Chances of survival were minimal and other places suggested we put him to sleep. Doctors at VEG did explained he was very ill. They were super caring, empathetic with us and loving with our baby. God gave my Frankie another chance thanks to the hands of the staff at VEG in Hoboken. Prices are very affordable compared to other hospitals!! after all, we make a commitment to our pets! The said money can't buy happiness, but the joy of seeing my baby waiting for me at the door and seeing him on his way to recovery is priceless. I hope my pets don't ever get sick again, but if ever needed I will return to Hoboken VEG without a doubt. God bless you all!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU GRACIAS Frankie Loves you furry much!!!

Highly recommend this place! The staff was absolutely amazing and I cannot thank them enough. Brought my dog Jet here after a dog attacked us on our walk and we showed up with no appointment and I didn’t have time to call ahead of time. They were fast, attentive, and kind. Dr. Burns and the other doctor we saw (can’t remember her name) were the sweetest. The entire staff treated us with kindness and respect, and we have nothing but good things to say about this place. Jet is doing so much better and we are forever grateful.

Highly recommend this hospital if you are just simply in desperate need of help. My fur baby had woke up limping around 6am and I hadn’t decided to take him to the emergency until about 10pm that day. I called before hand, I got there, they checked me in and got straight in to checking him. I was so concerned but they did everything to make sure my fur baby was going to be okay. They explained everything they were going to do before even doing it. They pulled up an estimate of how much everything was going to be, gave me time to think about whether I was going to proceed with everything written. You are able to remove from the bill, the things you do not want done to your pet. The staff is so kind, reassuring and comforting. I left at 2am, turns out my fur baby just had a sprained/sore paw. No broken bones. Giving it 4 stars because the prices broke my heart but I must admit anywhere you go, especially if you don’t have pet insurance. It will be pricey. But I didn’t care about the money at that point, i just needed to know why my dog was limping. If you are going to have to spend the money anyways, come here. Your dog is in good hands. My dog is doing just fine now after the medicine prescribed. Thank you V.E.G 🙏🏽❤️

We brought our dog in after she was attacked by another dog and the staff were caring, thorough and efficient. Safely sedated and treated our pup and spent the time with us to review the plan despite being super busy. They gave us wonderful care in a scary situation. So lucky to have this emergency room in town
