How to Save Money at All Creatures Great and Small Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Recommended by several friends, and I'm so happy I followed their advice. We felt at ease the minute we walked through the door. Dr.Perez and staff are wonderful. Very knowledgeable, thorough and took the time to go over any concern I had without being made to feel crazy or rushed. They even managed to calm my big boy down to get blood in an easygoing patient manner. Far exceeded my expectations and am very impressed .The care & attention shown to my dog was heartwarming and genuine. I'm so happy to say this is our vet.

My appointment for my parrot Beto was on July 26, 2024 with Dr. Perez. My partner and I drove 1 hour to take our baby here for his wellness exam, nail clipping and DNA exam (to find out his gender). Dr. Perez was beyond AMAZING. She treated Beto like if he was a real baby, with so much care, passion and love. I can tell immediately Dr. Perez LOVES what she does. She is so knowledgeable when it comes to exotic animals/pets. It was so hard for me to find a local exotic veterinarian in my area, which is why we made the 1 hour drive because Beto's nails needed to be trimmed ASAP and I wanted him to get seen by a knowledgeable doctor. It was so worth it going to this establishment. Dr. Perez conducted the exam in front of us. Beto was trying to fight Dr. Perez but he calmed down. Once Beto was put back in his cage, he drank water and looked fine. Once we got home, Beto was acting like if nothing ever happened to him an hour before. He was back to being himself. Beto's vet is no longer in the area which is why I had to find him a new vet. Dr. Perez will be in my area every other week so in the future, we will book ahead of time. Thank you Dr. Perez and the vet technician for taking care of Beto so well during his appointment. Beto was getting so many compliments from Dr. Perez and the vet technician because he is so healthy and well taken care of, it made me feel very special hearing it from the experts in exotic animals. I highly recommended Dr. Perez to anyone who owns a parrot, macaw, or any exotic pet.

My first two visits to this place were pleasant, however, as I interacted further with this office it became clear that they’re disorganized and not fully even aware of their own policies between the people who speak with you on the phone. I initially established a recurring approval for my cat’s prescription food since he has stomach issues and needs to eat a specific type of food which I purchase from Chewy. Every prior vet I’ve been to does this very simply by just online approval, it’s always been straightforward. The first time I set that up with this vet, the receptionist was testy with me over the phone and confused - asking me to bring the cat back into the vet, even though we were there just two weeks prior. It eventually got sorted through a phone call with one of the vets, who said it’s no problem at all and he sent in an approval for the food online. Very simple, just like every other vet has done. We were fine for over a year, until just the other day I try to repurchase the food through Chewy and I get a call notifying me that this vet now has a policy wherein I have to go to them and physically pick up a paper approval, which I then have to scan and send to Chewy. I want you to take a moment to realize how absolutely insane that is. This is an animal that has been on the same diet, approved by multiple vets (including this one) over many years. The cat has IBS and diarrhea without this food. And this vet office now all of a sudden wants me to drive to their location, which is a 50 minute drive from me, and physically pick up a paper so I can get my cat the food he needs to be well. No offer to send it to me, no offer to scan it and email it to me. Just yeah, waste 1.5 hours of your time to come here and pick up this paper that our very busy receptionists couldn’t spend 10 seconds scanning and emailing to you, or sending it via snail mail. I have spent too much money and time at this place to get this kind of ridiculously smooth-brained treatment. Are they robots working here who can’t think creatively and offer a scan or an envelope sent to my address? Is everyone here ok that your only solution to this is having someone physically come pick up an approval letter for cat food in the big year of 2025? If you like interacting with painfully inflexible and unaccommodating bureaucracy - you’re in luck, this is the vet office to visit!
