How to Save Money at Audubon Family Veterinary Center

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I wish I could give this place a 20 out of 10. I have two German shepherd puppies, who have been nothing short of a handful. From simple puppy things to checkups to the more serious issues the staff has been nothing but amazing. They always greet you with the smile. You never feel like a question is stupid or silly. The front desk is amazing and always so sweet! They get you in quick and are just so compassionate. I have seen Dr. Roppolo and Dr. Kingett both absolutely amazing. Special shout out to Dr. Kingett who did an amazing job on our female puppies spay and most recently helped us navigate a potential blockage in our male. I was a mess and she was with me every step of the way with so much knowledge and ultimately got our boy back to great health! Thank you thank you! I really cannot say enough good things about this place!

I wanted to thank Dr. Roppolo and the Team at Audubon Vet, they were nothing but kind and amazing to me. This place was clean and immaculate, we barely waited and the staff was beyond friendly. My Lyla was very sick and we didn’t know how progressive her cancer was. I did not opt for anything except comfort care and the team did everything in their power to provide the best care. They were amazing with her and tried everything. I got the best extra two months from my best friend. I couldn’t thank them enough. She unfortunately has passed on and we didn’t get to make it to the vet to do it where we wanted. So thank you for everything. I would recommend this place to anyone. My other animals when needed will definitely be coming here.

From the front desk to the techs, everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Dr Roppolo is also extremely friendly, caring, compassionate and a very knowledgeable veterinarian. Emmy at the front desk is beyond welcoming. Stephanie tech also very warm welcoming and great with pets. These are the two that I genuinely see the most during my visits and stick out. Warm welcoming friendly compassionate, no wait in the waiting room with other pets, cat specific room are also nice. Abby + the rest of my gang.

I love this vet. They are so great with my dog Fred and also caring to my needs as well. When it comes to my dog and he's in pain it makes me sad but they make both of us feel better. I love doctor Roppolo, I followed him from Pennsauken. I do have to say doctor Kingett is my 2nd choice for me and my dog when doctor Roppolo isn't available They take their time to help their patients and go above and beyond to make sure they aren’t stressed. I do have to say Allison (receptionist) is very sweet and caring. When I was making my appt I got upset because I couldn’t get in to see Dr. Roppolo and she suggested Dr. Kingett and I couldn’t have been happier. We now know my dog Fred thinks of her as the can cheese lady lol.
