How to Save Money at Meadow Pond Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
My dog Frog is very anxious around new people and does not like the vet's office once bit. She does everything she can to pretend she is big and scary so that the strangers there will stay away. She barks a lot. Despite this the staff here are always very, very patient with her! They show her lots of love and care (even if she insists that she is in imminent danger). They are also really patient with me, which, as a first time dog owner, is exceedingly helpful. I have never been made to feel like I was dumb for not knowing something, and I've never been talked down to. Even the vet techs that I haven't formally met have poked their heads in to say hello and meet my Frog, really showcasing just how much these lovely people care about their work! I genuinely could not ask for a better vet; I love this place. I would tell my parents to bring their dogs to Meadow Pond but they live 3,000 miles away, so that's possibly not a feasible option. Instead, I'm content to tell you (yes you, reading this right now) that I absolutely recommend this place. I should make sure to explicitly state again that Frog is a dog, I do not know if they treat amphibians here.

If I could give a negative I would. A friend rehomed her cat to me. I called the vet 3 wks ago to request the prescription for her kidney diet food. They TOLD they would mail it. Nothing was received after 2 weeks. I am now out of the special food. I called at beginning of this week asking to be mailed the prescription and emailed a copy. They said they will check with the doctor and get back to me. NO call back. Called again next day, was told they cannot give the prescription to me. I complained, explained that I live far away and that I am out of food. They said that they would check with the Vet again and call me back. NO call back. I called today, asked if I they could give the prescription to the previous owner, they said yes. I had the previous owner call and they told her NO, cat has to come back in for a renal test. This is food that is NOT going to hurt the cat, it will ONLY help a cat that has renal concerns. I am not selling it on the street. This food will not hurt other cats and they wont eat it because no cat actually likes it. They are holding this prescription hostage, forcing me to come in for more testing when I am 1.75 hours away. I have my own vet who is 6 weeks out for booking. So the vet at Meadow Pond is jeopardizing my cat's health. And now my cat's previous renal tests will no longer serve as a baseline since I cannot get prescription food. I would never recommend this place. We are talking nasty tasting kidney cat food, not opioids! I absolutely do not understand what the big deal is and I asked for a legitimate explanation and they could not provide a reason to me. Only "the vet does not feel comfortable", was given as a reason as to why they will not give me the prescription. Add in the poor communication, the promises to call back.. it is all unacceptable

Great vets they all know all thier animal patients by name and come right up to greet. My two pits get so excited they cry and love Dr North the best. Kira even gives me a lecture when I tell her that she hasn't followed Dr order & then she's praised by vet on how great she is.
