How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Unfortunately, today we had to put our sweet baby down after 14 years. Everyone at the Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester Could not have made this easier. They were all beyond me compassionate and kind. We were provided a nice private room (unlike the typical examining rooms you are usually left in) We were given as much time as we needed to say goodbye. Thank you to everyone of the ladies helping us today.❤️

They saved her life! We were turned away from a different Emergency Vet closer to home, but we were welcomed with open arms and without hesitation by the team here. Everything happens for a reason and I'm so glad we landed on their doorstep. Every single staff member has a calm and reassuring presence and the care they provide is top notch. The frequent updates from the doggy nurses helped to keep my heart at ease in my time away from my girl. I work in human emergency medicine and I can definitively say that these guys have the most difficult job in the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving us a second chance with our best girl!

No one ever wants to take a trip to the emergency vet, let alone with a 16 month old who did not have the time to nap. Not only did we receive the best care for our bulldog, but the staff and Doctors helped this stressed mama out with my screaming child. They made amazing accommodations for us and recognized my son melting down. As a newer mom this did not go unnoticed and that act of kindness was well appreciated! As for our pup- he had the best care and is on the road to recovery!

I recently had to put down my baby boy, Bandit. Losing my first pet so suddenly, and so young, was devastating. The staff did everything they could to make sure we were both comfortable while he passed on and were extremely informative and to the point. They treated my specific circumstance with so much compassion and care, I couldn't be more grateful that such a difficult situation was handled here. They gave me as much time as I needed with him alone to say our goodbyes and snuggle one last time. Thank you so much to the doctor, nurse and receptionist I experienced this with for your kindness and consideration during this extremely difficult time.

I can’t say enough good things about this emergency vet. We’ve been before and knew they were great, but today I really felt they went above and beyond. My 2.5 year old Australian Shepherd started having seizures and after having two in less than 24 hours we knew we needed to bring him in. My baby is extremely shy and timid and so he was very scared to be in the car, never mind the vet. When we pulled up they offered to have a nurse come out to us to limit his stress, but it started raining so she got us a room inside where he could be seen and wait in for the doctor without too much stress in the waiting room. I thought that was so amazing, but then they brought him a blanket to lay in. My baby was able to relax and get comfortable enough to nap while we waited for the doctor and then again while we waited for the results of his bloodwork. Everybody was very understanding of his anxiety and did everything they could to make him comfortable. When I got home I had a rather silly question and I was again met with compassion and reassurance that nothing was too silly to ask and that they are always here. I am a mom- and these nurses and doctors reminded me of the care my children see at their pediatrician- which is exactly what I want for my fur babies as well. Thank you all for making Arlo feel better 🤍
