How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Are you truly an animal loving hospital or just a business that wants money? I Took my dog over here because he’s blatantly not doing well just by looking at him and because I didn’t have an appointment they turned me away. Some people just don’t have a soul, I would not recommend this place! My dog is now dead 8hrs later after they turned me away! Thanks a lot!! 😡 unreal I don’t care about what you have to say, he was part of our family and he’s gone. You don’t even deserve 1star. He was a family member and all you care about was an appointment while my dog suffered. Anyone with a heart would have taken him in regardless of what situation was going on, that is, people that really love animals. It’s no different than if I’m having a stressful overloaded workday and I see someone on the side of the road that needs help. I’m going to stop and pull over and help, because that’s what a good person does. You guys on the other hand, don’t give a flying **** because I didn’t have an appointment. absolutely disgraceful of a company you guys have!! I hope you lose thousands of dollars because of this post!!! we need better people in America!!!

A few months ago my dog was bitten by a snake. I rushed her to the vet and they made space for me, took really good care of my dog and kept me informed about everything that was going on. Dog made a full recovery. Very happy I chose this vet office when I moved to this area.

My dog had an ear infection and was able to get treated and some meds the cost was kind of steep but they did have a coupon they gave me $50 off of my first visit so instead of paying $250 my Benji got seen for 200 bucks and we got another pet sibling for him while we were there due to the fact that the location is inside of a pet smart store and I brought my daughter with me and she had some money it couldn't resist getting her dog a guinea pig brother

Its always a money grab between the optum wellness plans and unnecessary procedures that they charge you aside from the plan. There receptionist would silence their phones whenever i tried calling to pick up my dog. Please find a vet who cares.

I was able to get a last minute appointment to bring my puppy here when I thought she had a UTI. It can take 2 weeks to get an appointment with my regular vets, so I was thankful that they were able to see her literally the next day. They were friendly, asked good questions to get a sense of what was wrong with her and walked me through the whole process. They were able to figure out what was wrong with her - and found another infection that my usual vets hadn't picked up - and she's on her way to feeling much better. Overall, I'm very pleased with the experience at Banfield. If I had to make any suggestion, it would be that the scales didn't look like they were being cleaned between each patient, which is only a concern as our pup isn't fully vaccinated yet. Thank you for helping Miss Lily today :)
