How to Save Money at Salisbury Animal Hospital PA
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had an emergency and called several vet hospitals and no one took walk-ins, this place was the ONLY place willing to take my sweet baby in and get her checked out. Not only did they take her in as a walk-in she had never even been there. I didn’t even know they existed until I started calling around and found them. I had never been and when I got there they were very sweet and organized, they made sure that they had all the contact information they would need and then got my baby into a room immediately. The vet was super nice and had a fantastic personality you could tell he really loves his job and cares deeply for animals. He calmly explained what was going on and had several options for us to choose from, when it became clear that financially we wouldn’t be able to do too much he made a way for us. Mind you my dog isn’t the most friendly with strangers but he was very kind and patient with her. She ended up staying and needing surgery, they called me at least three times from the moment I left to the moment her surgery was over. They updated me with everything they found and were very helpful with next steps. When we went to pick her up they stayed true to their word about prices and didn’t have any surprise fees and they even sent her home with a care package. I am in awe at the level of care they have for pets, not once did I get the feeling that someone was frustrated or upset. Everyone was all smiles and confident in their work. The places itself was very clean and they even had a different entrance for reactive/aggressive dogs so that the pets are safe and the owners are less worried. I can’t express enough how extremely grateful I am for the staff and all that they did! They truly are the best vet hospital I have ever been to before. The level of care and thoughtfulness they provide is astounding.

Took my small dog here to establish him as a new patient as well as get a dental cleaning with extraction. The prices were reasonable for the services performed. No appointment was needed (which was odd) so it is first-come, first-served. It is quite busy. They have separate entrances for cats, dogs, and aggressive dogs.

Update: She is back to her normal happy self! (No thanks to this place) She has partial blindness but that's better than being dead for no reason! If I could give this place zero stars I would. A while back we took our very sick puppy to this place where she tested positive for parvo. The very next day after admitting her Dr. Steinman called and insisted that she had rabies and that we needed to put her down because she was aggressive (even though I specifically told him that would be impossible as she had not been out of our sight or bitten by anything). Thank God my husband stood his ground and took our fur baby to another vet. As we left with her the hair on her back stood straight up when she saw Dr. Steinman and she was very irritated (which is not like our girl). When we got to the other vet the doctor immediately said if she can swallow water its not rabies. Then he squirted water in her mouth with a syringe and she swallowed! She also was not aggressive towards the staff at the new vet unless there were needles involved or they touched the lower part of her spine. Our baby was just trying to tell us to get her out of that horrible place! She has made a tremendous amount of progress and has made nearly a full recovery! (Praise God!) If we had let this doctor bully us into putting her down she would be dead right now! Please, if you love your animals do not listen to anything these people say! They should be ashamed of themselves!

I feel like this hospital saved my dog’s life by being able to take a tumor off that we had been told by another Vet that it couldn’t be done. She is already playing and one happy dog. The pricing was very reasonable also. Wry satisfied with my experience here

This is the only place in all of Salisbury I trust to take my standard poodle for grooming. The staff remembers my pup and in the best way possible she remembers the groomers. Grooming poodles is far from easy but they always meet our expectations for a fair price.
