How to Save Money at North Raleigh Mobile Vet - Euthanasia in Home Service

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Today was truly one of the hardest days ever. Normally I wouldn’t rush to leave a review like this but Dr. Burroughs was absolutely amazing. Nobody ever wants to go through this. Our girl was like a child so making the decision was gut wrenching. Dr. Burroughs was so kind, so patient, and so supportive. This was the first time we’ve ever had to make the decision to end a pet’s suffering and she was seriously phenomenal. At the end of it I looked at her as more of a therapist than a vet. She was so supportive of us and loved on our other dogs while we were tending to our sick one. If you ever have to make that decision and you need a supportive, comforting person to walk in and make it as easy as possible. PLEASE use them.

I can’t express enough how grateful I am to have found Dr. Burroughs. She came to our home within two hours of our call. We talked while she observed Ari and confirmed we were making the right decision. Dr Burroughs was kind, compassionate and so very patient. She took her time to discuss the process. She sat with us on the floor next to Ari‘s bed in her favorite spot. I was able to cradle her head in my lap while Dr. Burroughs first gave her a shot to fall asleep before giving her another shot to help her cross the rainbow bridge. My sweet Ari never indicated any pain or suffering during the process. She was relaxed and calm as she peacefully passed. Dr. Burroughs then gave us as much time as we needed before taking Ari, wrapped in her favorite blanket, with her. I cannot recommend Dr. Burroughs enough. Her skill, comforting demeanor, patience and respect is second to none.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Burroughs. Our Leela lived a great full life and at the end we had to make really hard choice very quickly. The one thing I knew is I wanted her to be home in her safe place at the end. Dr. Burroughs and team answered quickly and came to our home next day. It was calm and they helped provide a safe and relaxed end of life care. I know it can’t be an easy job, but I am glad there is someone there to help and provide care with such sensitivity. Thank you for everything and all you do.

Thank you, Dr. Burroughs, for your care and compassion when the time came for my little boy. Despite doing my best to plan ahead and be able to plan his end of life care after 8 months of treatment for lymphoma, when his time came it was sudden. All the plans I had previously made fell through, but my son was ready and I would not make him wait. Dr. Burroughs came to my home last minute, greeted both of my dogs warmly, and kindly and respectfully helped me do the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I will cherish the final moments I shared with my son, and am so grateful that Dr. Burroughs was able to make the hardest thing just a little easier.

As a paramedic I often have a hard time trusting other medical professionals. However Dr. Burroughs was exceptionally compassionate and kind throughout the entire process. It was an incredibly peaceful experience for old Mr. Carson and when the hardest day comes for you and your dog I highly recommend doing it at home with Dr. Burroughs.
