How to Save Money at Animal Hospital at Brier Creek

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The people at Animal Hospital at Brier Creek are awesome! They know my cat gets very anxious when at vet office. They perform exam quickly to decrease the stress on my kitty! Dr Goetz explains everything regarding her health and gives plan of action for future appointments. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else!!!

My daughter and I took our Vincent, a one year old Siamese for his one year check, vaccines and a microchip. A friend recommended this vet and they are close to our house, so we took a chance. We highly regret this decision. This was the worst vet experience we have had (besides having to put animals to sleep, but that wasn't the fault of the vets or vet techs) I will try to be brief and make this easy to read. First of all, we had to wait about 50 minutes past our appointment time. Even though we were the only people in the place. The vet tech, Leanne, (not sure of her title) poked her head in the room and said "Oh, I didn't realize anyone was in here" seemed annoyed and then came back a few minutes later and said (in a tone of absolute annoyance and disappointment) "Well, I guess I am going to be the tech today." She spoke in a monotone voice and showed very little interest in our sweet little man. She looked at her computer screen a lot and gave us a quote for the visit. The first quote she neglected to include the microchip, so she added that in. Then she said the vet would be in soon. We waited a long time for the vet, who apologized for making us wait. She was much friendlier than the tech, but seemed very rushed and hectic. She threw some catnip on the towel toward Vincent, but was not calm enough to help him feel calm. He was very, very stressed out and became more so by the rough way they handled him. They held him down to draw blood while he fought and meowed (as you would expect) and the tech said (no joke!) "If you would just stay still this would be easier!" He was traumatized by this point and we were too. In the hectic rush to get out, the vet then held him down again to put what we thought was flea medication on his neck. Then they left the room. The tech came back into the room and told us she neglected to add the two meds that were put on his neck (for worms?) And added 60 more bucks to our bill without even asking us or explaining it. So we left there paying close to 300 for a visit, vaccines and a microchip. I would not recommend using this vet. The main reason is that we didn't like how they handled our kitty and we didn't like Leanne's attitude. We also did not like having to pay for something we did not consent to. We were in there from 1:00 until 2:20, arrived early (about 12:45) and still spent a lot of time waiting. All in all It was traumatic for Vincent, my daughter and for me. Find a vet that cares about your pets and you and at least attempts to calm your pet and make it as good of an experience as possible. I have had such and enjoyable experience with the Animal Hospital at Brier Creek. I have a senior dog who has very serious medical issues that require medication twice daily and it can certainly be overwhelming. I have also had times where his medicine was low and I was worried that I could not get his refill in time. However, the staff here have been so overwhelmingly pleasant to work with and they are so understanding. Hunter is one of the staff and I must say that he has a manner about him that puts you at ease and makes you feel welcome. He always treats my pup with great care and he is always so helpful. He has even stayed late and made ways for me to get my medication refills when I had worry that I would not get it because of my job commitments. But went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed. Now when I go there I always look for him. Hunter is a great employee with impeccable customer service. If I could I would give 6 stars. Thanks for making what can certainly be stressful very manageable.

Putting your dogs life in someone else’s hands, I don’t take a lightly. I felt they cared for Zippy and I trusted them going through this experience of him being sick. I am grateful for the outstanding service Dr. G and gang provided. Would recommend them to any pet owner!

I wish I did not have to give one star. The office staff is clueless, make sure you check all your billing. You can call there 10 tines ask the same question and get 10 different answers. There is one vet assistant in the morning acts like you are putting out for being there and she judges the way your pet acts. The doctor came in to see my dog for an ear issue to see if it had cleared with the medicine they had me buy, she lift up his ear did not even look deeply in the ear and said he was good, I did not even use the medicine, so why tell me to use it? They send numerous emails for marketing, there chats are never answered even though they drill it in you to use the application, they do nit have grooming, they frown against boarding even though they advertise those 2 services. If you love your pets do your homework before settling on this vet!!!!!!
