How to Save Money at Wilsoncreek Ragdolls

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We adopted 2 kittens 2 weeks ago, one from Melissa (Lulu’s baby) and one from Holly (Darcie’s baby), and couldn’t be happier. Melissa and Holly were incredibly sweet, responsive, and easy to communicate with throughout the process. They sent weekly photos/videos, which was really helpful and always exciting to see. I love that they allow you to visit and see their kittens and setup. We visited twice before we chose, and I could immediately tell that Holly and Melissa truly love all of their cats and kittens, and the kittens are “raised under foot” in a happy healthy environment. Our kittens are very happy, well-adjusted, interactive, playful, social, and loving (so many purrs!!), and have been from the very beginning. I think it is a testament to Holly and Melissa giving so much attention and love from the time they are born. Thank you Melissa and Holly for bringing these two into our lives!!

Amazing Ragdolls. Melissa definitely breeds these amazing cats for the love of the breed. We just brought our handsome boy home and he is such an incredible kitten. He is very social and has adapted to his new home and dog very quickly. We will be a return client to get our boy a sibling in the near future.

I highly recommend getting a kitty from Melissa. I have never in my life had a sweeter more well behaved cat in my life. He is everything Melissa said he would be and more! He was already so well socialized when I got him that it was hardly any transition at all. Melissa was thorough and detailed in her transactions and made the process completely painless. I can’t wait to get another kitten from her!

I’m guessing you’re hoping to get a ragdoll kitten. So I’m going to make this easy for you and relieve you of all of the extra research that I had to do to get to where I am today. The place you want to go to get your new baby ragdoll is Wilson Creek Ragdolls. Hands-down you will find no better place to adopt your new baby! I worked with Melissa (delightful) the entire time, and she was quite a joy to work with. I spoke with her on the phone and explained to her that I am in chronic pain and housebound, basically bedbound was and in need of an emotional support animal because I was dealing with a lot of emotional trauma and loss. I told her it was very important that my baby be very cuddly and want to be with me a lot. Melissa agreed to work with whichever cat I chose and make them love cuddles. She ended up handpicking my beautiful cream tortie girl and contacting me to let me know that she was up for grabs. I knew immediately that she was supposed to be mine. Melissa kept me up-to-date with pictures, videos and updates along the way. I could never have expected the absolute amazing bundle of joy that I received. Emmy is a hyperactive, cuddly, curious, brave, self-assured, sweet and floppy as could be little baby who I absolutely fell in love with immediately. I have never seen a cat that is so sure of herself. She didn’t hide away when she was brought home. She knew right away that this was her house, and this tiny little pipsqueak took it over immediately. I know for sure that Melissa at Wilson Creek ragdolls works very hard to raise each of her babies with love, and teach them to be self-assured and happy, fosters them to have intense bravery to try anything, and I mean anything and allows them to develop their natural curiosities. She even runs the vacuum cleaner around them when they’re very little to get them acclimated to all kinds of noises, and let me tell you, it works! I would never get a ragdoll from anywhere else, and I would never suggest anyone else get a ragdoll from anywhere else. I absolutely love sending updates to Melissa (because even though I have had Emmy for a month she is still interested in seeing pics and hearing stories About my little bundle, which warms my heart). Emmy is incredibly healthy according to the vet, and absolutely stunningly beautiful. She makes me so happy to wake up in the morning and we spend a ton of time together during the day. She likes me to pick her up and carry her around while I do other things so she can see up high. I do not have to show her how to play with any of her toys before using them because she is very smart and figures stuff out on her own without my help. She plays with everything I give her and is appreciative of all of it. I know I am gushing, but Wilson Creek ragdolls has given me the gift of a child. She thinks of me as her mother to which is really special. When I clean her eyes and nose, she always cuddles extra and snuggles in like I am her mama cat and she recognizes it. It’s the sweetest thing. She also puts her paws on my lips for kisses and lets me brush her teeth and her fur every single day. I cannot guarantee that your cat will be as absolutely 1000 million percent perfect is my cat because how could that even be? But if you get your ragdoll at Wilson Creek ragdolls, I’m sure you have a chance of coming out of it with a cat that is Much higher quality than anywhere else. This is a non-smoking home with tons of cats and dogs and children around to get them acclimated to all sorts of experiences. The home is clean and nice and the cats are treated very very well and quite obviously loved. Melissa or her partner Holly will keep you up-to-date with pictures and videos as requested, and as soon as you pick a name for your baby, they will start calling your baby by that name to get them used to it.

Melissa was fantastic in keeping us updated on our kittens, sending pictures and videos often. When our girls came home they adjusted within hours and have been so loving and purrfect. We would highly recommend Melissa and Wilson Creek Rag Dolls if you want a great experience when looking for a new member of your family. David & Bridget Wilson Pinehurst, NC
