How to Save Money at Sound Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Thank you, Dr. Hayes! After 2 misdiagnoses (at another vet hospital) and 2 weeks of suffering, you were able to immediately figure out Luna Tick's issue and treat it. She was completely CURED in 2 days! Also, same day appointment, request of records from our vet, and very fair cost! Thanks again We appreciate you and your staff! Terri (and Luna) Vaughan

Yo, listen up, I'm gonna tell ya about this place called Sound Vet Animal Hospital. It's like finding a hidden treasure in the middle of a desert, capisce? So, I stroll in with my senior pup. She's got more experience under her collar than the Godfather himself, you know what I'm saying? Anyway, the moment we step through those doors, it's like we entered a cozy little animal sanctuary, like a den of wise guys who really know their stuff. The staff there, oh boy, they treated my cagna like she was the Don's favorite companion. They showered her with attention and care. I'm talking primo service here! They didn't just take care of her, they made her feel like the top dog, the boss lady of the joint! The vets, they're like maestros conducting an orchestra. They knew exactly what they were doing, each move precise like a noodle through marinara, but with a gentleness that's rare in the animal world. She was in safe paws, if you know what I mean. And the equipment, oh boy, it was top-notch! State-of-the-art stuff. They had tools and machines that'd make even Tony Stark green with envy. The waiting room? Fuhgettaboutit! It felt like we were hanging out at a classy joint, surrounded by other good fellas and their furry pals. Now, lemme tell ya, if there was a prize for the best staff, they'd win it hands down. Sharp as a tack, with smiles that could melt the icy heart of the most cold-hearted mob boss. They made you feel like family, and that's a real testament to their professionalism and passion for what they do. I gotta hand it to Sound Vet. They've earned their spot in my crew of trusted places. If you're looking for an animal hospital that'll treat your fur baby like royalty, this is the joint you wanna hit up. It's a one-of-a-kind experience. So, to sum it up, Sound Vet is like the perfect Italian meal: comforting, satisfying, and leaves you wanting more. Now go ahead, make 'em an offer they can't refuse and bring your furry companion to this gem of a place! Capisce?

Was on vacation in the OBX 7/16/22-7/23/22 and unfortunately had to take my little Frenchie Gus to the vet for some digestive issues. Even though they were pretty busy, the vet techs made sure to check in and let me know when we were to be seen by the doctor. Dr. Moore thoroughly explained how I was to administer the medicine/probiotics for my pup and sent us on our way! A few hours later my pup was having some swelling in the face (presumeably an allergic reaction to the medicine we received earlier). I called Sound Veterinary Hospital again where the techs quickly connected me to Dr. Moore who advised I bring him back in. She was gentle and attentive to my dog’s needs and made sure we knew what was going on & to be done after our visit. Sound Veterniary Hospital saved the day for Gus and I while on vacation! Thanks to all the employees who helped!

Dr. Hayes is very kind and thorough. I was both pleased and impressed with the amount of time she took examining my dog; and also, with the time she spent discussing what she thought could be going on and how she would like to move forward. The technicians are friendly and compassionate. The office is very clean and they are taking appropriate measures for covid. I would recommend bringing your pets here they will be in good, knowledgeable hands.
