How to Save Money at Jordan Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This was my first visit to Jordan Veterinary Hospital. My first initial contact was by phone and the receptionist was very pleasant, I explained my Mother's dog's situation and my limited funds. She was very understanding and took the time to work with me on setting up the appointment and made me feel very positive about the animals wellbeing. On the day of the appointment I was very surprised by the hospitals appearance. It's a beautiful building. The receptionist was warm and very welcoming. They were running a little behind but kept us informed we would be seen soon, and we were. The vet tech was a joy and treated the animal with compassion and was very caring, with a gentle touch. She explained how the visit would work and what we should expect from the veterinarian. The veterinarian was equally welcoming, compassionate, she explained everything in detail even the pricing and what I was paying for. They took time to answer questions and explained why this test and that test was needed she explained every possible condition and outcomes to expect, even the bad. I could not be more pleased with my visit to Jordan Veterinary Hospital, it's staff, pricing and appearance. I wasn't upset with the bill, the dog is my mom's world and I would of paid twice the amount to make sure my Mother and her dog are given the best care, and Jordan Veterinary Hospital did just that. I will be returning and recommending Jordan Veterinary Hospital to all my friends and family! Thank y'all so much! ~Joe Cromer

The staff and doctors at this veterinary hospital are absolutely wonderful. Their caring and personal attention and willingness to go the extra mile have always been over the top. We’ve had some difficult veterinary health issues in our household lately and the care our dogs received was outstanding as always. The choice we made years ago to use this veterinary practice continues to support a high quality of life for all of our pets. We are very grateful!

I’ve been going to Jordan vet since I was a young man with all of my animals. When they were in the white building, the little small building, it was a great place. Since they built a new place, their prices are so high you cannot afford them. The staff has always been friendly and I like the way they do things. Unfortunately I recently lost my temper in there when we were discussing my dog. And I admit that. But the manager was as sarcastic as anyone I’ve ever met. On top of that they wouldn’t take my money because I got my mad . And after they put my dog through a five hour ordeal and canceled the test. They are only concerned about money. They’re not concerned about your animals. And. I’ve been going to this vet for 43 years. And I used to would recommend them to everyone. My advice to anyone is go somewhere else.

My daughter took her dog in for a wellness visit and because she said “I think he may be constipated” they charged us an additional $40.50. I know this doesn’t sound like much but for a single parent and a college kid it’s a lot. This is beyond ridiculous, they quoted us $33.50 for his check up but again because of that simple statement we were then charged $74.00, I guess the extra $40.50 was just for the vet to press on his stomach and nothing else. When I called all they could say is because of that statement it turned from a wellness visit to a medical visit since it was said the constipation was a concern. Nothing was ever said about being concerned ONLY she thought he may be. We’ve heard such great things about this Vet but have not had any good experiences. I know the vet we used for outlet other dog there was no difference in the price of a check whether medical or just for yearly vaccinations.

This used to be a really good veterinary clinic and boarding facility. But now it’s a boarding facility. But I’m afraid it’s a less than average veterinary facility. That’s really desperate to pay for a brand new boarding building. So do your pet and your wallet a favor go anywhere else.
