How to Save Money at UrgentVet - Huntersville
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I brought my cat here for an emergency visit to get her teeth/tooth looked at. The side of her mouth was obviously bothering her for 2 days! I was told that she may have an absessed tooth and after the Dr checked her out, she did!! The nurses and Dr were so sweet and compassionate and made us(my cat and I haha) feel very comfortable! 🙏😻 They explained everything that was going on with my cat, they had medicine to give her during our visit and gave me recommendations to do for my sweet fur baby after the visit! Also great prices for the exam and for the medicine they gave her during her visit too! I would definitely recommend bringing your fur babies here!!!

Excellent staff who are kind, compassionate, and thorough. Came this evening for an emergency for my dog. Their online check in system made it very easy for me to be checked in immediately and placed inside of a room. Right outside my room, I heard another family who lost their pet. The staff seemed to have a lot of compassion towards that family and came to notify me of a delay in servicing me due to this tragedy (which was very kind). They gave my dog water while she waited and came to clean her vomit. The nurses loved on my baby and were transparent in explaining all of the charges prior to execution. Once seen, the doctor was extremely patient and thorough in examining my dog. She presented possible problems and various solutions. Despite it being the end of the day, she was still very kind to me and my dog. All of the staff here are phenomenal. I all definitely return (but hopefully I won’t need to lol )

Our puppy broke his leg and the staff could not have been any nicer. Service was exceptional. No wait. Walked straight in and were seen by a vet tech and vet who were both friendly, knowledgeable, and upfront about procedures and costs. X-rays and visit information was sent promptly to our puppy’s main vet. Would definitely use them again if needed.

On Sunday, 8/13/23 my wife took our 15 year old Yorkie here to have his left eye checked as we noticed he was having trouble opening it. They let us know he had developed an ulcer on the eye and prescribed an ointment with a steroid in it to treat the ulcer. They let us know to make an appt with his regular Vet to check progress in a couple days. Upon arrival to our regular Vet, they let us know it had gotten worse and asked to see the script. They told us that UrgentVet had prescribed a ointment with a steroid in which is making it worse. Better yet, 2 signatures at UrgentVet checked out that script. Tuesday evening, the ulcer burst. Thursday morning, we had to make the decision to have his eye removed. Upon contacting UrgentVet letting them know of their mishap, they refunded the script and let us know the manager would be in touch. 15 days later - nothing. Refunding us $200 does not get our dogs eye back - and no follow up from the manager shows that this business is purely about the financial aspect of pet care. I urge you, if you have anything at all wrong with your pet, DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS OFFICE. I hope that no animal has to go through what ours did because of the lack of care at UrgentVet in Huntersville. Update: 2 weeks from the initial review, still no contact from the Business. Glad to see they can reply to my review and act like they will though.
