How to Save Money at Total Care Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We have been going to Total Care now for 10-plus years. We moved over an hour away, but continue to use this amazing veterinary hospital bc of the doctors but especially because of vet tech Margie! There will never be enough words to describe how amazing Margie is. The staff of Total Care and especially Margie is worth the drive! Thank you to Total Care for the amazing care and prices!! Thank you to Margie for loving our babies as her own!! -Mandy Caudle

Dr. Figgatt and her veterinary technician, Kate, really knocked it out of the park on our first visit! Our usual veterinarian dropped the ball and after my dog had been sick for almost 2 months and not improving, I decided try this hospital and I will definitely be back. They were both concerned, attentive and provided excellent care and treatment for Dixie. All of my questions were answered and I was informed if the first plan of action didn't work, the doctor was already thinking of a plan B and plan C. But I don't think that will be needed since my dog is already showing signs of improvement after her FIRST VISIT!!! I am beyond pleased as I consider my dog my kid. I can not thank Dr. Figgatt enough and I am confident in the care she will continue to provide for Dixie in her golden years

The staff was amazing and showed my hedgehog so much love and care. The prices were reasonable and they got him in to be seen very fast. He is already feeling much better after just one day. I will be using total care for all my pet's vet needs and I have a cat a dog and 5 hedgehogs. Thank you Total Care Veterinary for taking care of my little baby I'm praying for the best.

I'm not sure what went wrong. I had both of my dogs records sent to a new vet simply in case of an emergency. I've had two instances where we had an emergency and both times were told to call James Landing Vet because they could do same day appointments. I never intended on leaving Total Care as I really like the staff and environment. I just simply wanted my pets records to be on hand at another vet. I called Total Care to set up a nail trim and they refused to do it stating they don't do nail trims unless her yearly check up was performed at the same time, costing roughly $200.00. I have never had this happen over the several years we have been going there so I assume it's because I had a copy of her records sent to another vet. I highly recommend James Landing Vet. They have been able to see my pets with same day service and have always been incredibly friendly. James Landing is also 1/2 the cost!

Dr. Goho is THE BEST. I've been very impressed over the years by how accurate he can diagnose an issue. Top notch care!
