How to Save Money at After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic, PA
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The office staff were amazing, empathetic and gentle w my Autumn. She went in at 2am bc of a seizure. The doctor wad patient and understanding. There are 2 reasons I did not give them 5 stars. The first is cost. My bill for 20 min was 390.00. THAT was astronomical! The second is that they would not let us go back w our dog. She was terrified and that did not help her at all! But as far as service, everything was top notch and everyone was wonderful!

I would give a negative 10 stars if this would allow it. While I understand, completely understand that emergencies happen. The staff at this place are well rehearsed. Claiming that the emergency surgeries are taking longer than expected. My dog was back for a possible leg injury. After nearly 2 hours he had not been seen, no updates until I ask. Several others had been waiting for 6 + hours. One individual states to the receptionist that it had been 5.5 hours with zero update. My dog was returned to me, he had soiled himself and wasn’t cleaned very well. Personally, I wouldn’t trust this place or their staff with a rubber hammer in a room made of steel.

If the front staff had used their brains & prioritized my 1lb 8 week old baby chihuahua- it wouldn’t have mattered the cost, we would’ve tried to save her. The front staff knew the condition my baby was in yet they made us wait over 2 hours before we were seen. After watching YouTube videos during our wait we learned that small puppies are susceptible to low sugar & why this place didn’t think to check her sugar right away, I guess we’ll never know. So much for an emergency vet…By the time she was seen she was already in a hypoglycemic coma and had stiffened up. They then said she also tested positive for parvo, but had they controlled her sugar, I believe she wouldn’t have been so critical and she may have been saved.we saw people keep walking in and out with dogs that were capable of walking yet my baby who couldn’t walk anymore was made to wait and suffer in my arms in our car. The front staff should all be fired and they need to have more than 1 vet on call. The vet assistant/tech she was compassionate and acted fast but it was already too late to try and fix her sugar. I’m heartbroken and hope no one else’s baby has to suffer like mine did…

Horrible they do not care about your pets the front desk had us waiting 3 hours for a room to be cleaned I called twice to get a update as we waited in the car they hung up on us. The vet was a friendly person but overwhelmed as he was the only one. She was low on sugar and crashed because they didn't check her right away. We lost our 7 weeks puppy to Parvo she was conscious before we got there to only die after the long wait period and unprofessional front desk with no updates while they was having a great time laughing and careless about anyone situation. You are better off watching YouTube before going here or another clinic. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I do not recommend this place and would hate for anyone to go through the same thing. That front staff has to be replaced ASAP better off putting a AI instead of them selfish humans.

Our beloved cat was killed by a car. When we found her body, it was they weekend so we couldn't go to our regular vet. They promised to paw print her before sending her for cremation. We never received her prints. They don't seem to take any responsibility for the prints being delivered. I have called four times... once I was told it was the post office's fault and that I needed to contact them, but they had no tracking information. In the past week I have been told twice the office manager would call me and yet no one has. How can they care about animals and disregard such an important keepsake for the grieving family.
