How to Save Money at Fletcher Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

(Note: I never leave reviews, but for this exceptional experience I had to!) Dr. Karina was absolutely phenomenal! I took one of my guinea pigs to see her after she had already been seen by her regular vet and had continued to get worse and started to decline food almost completely. It's so difficult to find a knowledgeable vet when it comes to exotic pets. Dr. Karina was so new to the practice when I scheduled with her that she hadn't been announced yet! She took the time to examine Penny thoroughly, listening to her heart and lungs, palpating her abdomen, checked her ears, eyes, teeth, and throat.. all while using a soothing animal lovers voice to talk to her. It's obvious she loves what she does and loves the animals she sees! She listened to all of my concerns and created a care plan to get my little one feeling better fast and took the time to explain every detail and what to expect. I will never take my guinea pigs to any other vet! They are permanently going to see Dr. Karina from now on!

I switched to Fletcher Animal Hospital because I wasn't being heard at my prevoius vet and I needed someone who understood my dog's urgent needs. If you have a diabetic pet please give them a call. Dr. Foote and Andrea, are the best of the best. My concerns and my pets needs are always taken seriously. I come in feeling defeated and broken most times and leave feeling like I CAN DO THIS and I have support. They always thank me for being kind but they've truly been a lifesaver and the greatest vet I've come across. Also the girls at the front desk are unspoken heroes.

We absolutely love Dr. Foote and her team. We have 2 small dogs and one large dog and take them all to Fletcher Animal Hospital. You can tell they genuinely care about your pets.

Thanks to everyone for their care and concern as we all worked hard to get Chops back to his normal (even if difficult) self. The entire team worked quickly to get us in and addressed all concerns. Communication was excellent and I really felt everyone truly cared for his well-being.

We got a English bulldog puppy and I called fletcher animal hospital so I could get her checked out and start getting her all the things she needs to live a long happy healthy life. I was able to get her in pretty quick, she was seen 2/15/22 and her first appointment was amazing!! They were super sweet to her and myself! Everyone wanted to see her and love on her, and it wasn’t because she’s a new puppy. They were like that towards other clients and there animals as well. We got into a room very quickly and we didn’t wait long at all for the doctor to come in and check her over. The doctor listened to me and answered any and all questions I had. She went over everything with me from toys, safe toys and safe bones, to the food she eats and how much, she went over how to care for her with all her wrinkles. Flea and tick treatment, deworming medicine, her breathing and her teeth. We went over issues she could have with breathing due to the breed of dog she is. I felt like I was listened too and my concerns and questions were answered and I feel so much better. My puppy is super healthy and knowing she has this awesome vet makes me even more happy! This vet office was very clean and tidy and it didn’t smell at all. They must be doing some kind of construction because they have signs up saying they are having work done. But it wasn’t messy at all, I was extremely pleased about our visit today and I’m confident that I found an amazing vet for my Lulu!! She loved all the attention she got today!! I’m excited to watch her grow and to be apart of this vet family!!
