How to Save Money at Animal Hospital of Fayetteville
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I wouldn’t take my babies anywhere else! Dr. Kenny Garrett and his staff are exceptional. I’ve been trusting Animal Hospital of Fayetteville with my fur kids for about 25 years now. Every vet I’ve seen there is great! Very knowledgeable, competent, and most importantly, compassionate. Dr. Garrett saved my American Bully’s life when he had a gastric bleed. I will be forever grateful!! ♥️

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience here. First, it was extremely dirty in the waiting area with loose fur and an abundance of grime. They clearly neglect basic sanitation procedures creating an unsuitable environment for both animals and clients. Also, I wasn’t greeted at all so as a first time client it so it was really frustrating. Communication was horrible, they acted as though they weren’t interested in my pets health. 2 different receptionists gave me misleading information. They are completely unprofessional and the lack of transparent communication further showcased their incompetence towards their patients/clients. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

This is an older vet so it doesn’t have new floors and new furniture but what is certain is that Dr. Garrett is an animal lover and he’s wise and knowledgeable and while the ladies at the front are always swamped and sometimes seem to be running like chicken with no heads, they too are just as compassionate and caring towards the fur babies. I’d take that trade off any day. This is the vet you go to if you want a vet who knows what he’s doing and need to be able to afford the services for your babies. Dr. Garett gave me a prognosis for my 14 year old fur baby a few months ago, and eventually the time came where I had to put my old girl down and Dr. Garett was informative, sympathetic and he talked me through it. Some of the ladies came and said a few words of kindness to me and my baby as well… so thank you. Thank you for being patient with me even at the visits I got frustrated, thank you for taking care of my old girl, thank you for the work you do. Thank you for taking care of Pepsi and all the kisses and hugs you all gave her every visit. Pepsi and I will forever be grateful… For the Love of Pepsi.

We found a stray cat at 3:40ish that was having seizures/convulsions. We called several other vets and they told us they couldn’t see it because it was too close to closing time, and that we would have to go to the emergency clinic (that wanted to change $600, to see the cat). We called animal hospital of Fayetteville, and they said there might be a wait but to bring it on in. When we got there, they already had a room waiting for us. The cat then started to have a Grand Mal seizure. We let the people at the front know, and they immediately rushed the cat to the Dr. They quickly performed blood work, and gave it a Valium to stop the seizure. Unfortunately the bloodwork came back that the cats kidneys were basically shut down from antifreeze poisoning. We had to make the hard decision to euthanize the stray cat. They let us spend the last few minutes of its life with the cat and be with it during euthanasia, while continuing to love on it. The people here went above and beyond what they had to do, and took in an emergency that other vets wouldn’t take in. They were there almost 45 minutes after closing trying to help with the cat and fight for its life. It’s much appreciated to still have people whom care that much.

Best Vet!! Doctor Garrett, & his staff are amazing! We take all of our pets there & have for years been serviced by them for our farm. Recently we took our cat Ty in. He's certainly a handful & was more like a wild Mountain Lion ..lol. Dr. G & his assistant were amazing & quite brave yet calm in managing him & getting our big fiesty boy back on the road to health. We also take our 3 Chihuahua's there, & the kindness, respect, & care each staff member & Dr. G give are AMAZING! I've had pets all my life. I'm 58, & NEVER, have I had such a positive, exemplary, experience at any prior vets office as we have here! Thank you all, for all you do. The Russo Family.
