How to Save Money at Truss Vet - Veterinary Urgent Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I cannot say enough how AWESOME Dr. Waltz and the Truss team were. Bernie Cat has not been feeling well. We just moved here and have yet to establish primary vet care and we’re recommended to come here by a different animal hospital who could not see us today. When we called, Truss got us in within the hour and saw us promptly. We saw Dr. Waltz. She and the vet tech were both so thorough, gentle, compassionate, and SMART in the way they approached his care. Dr. Waltz sat with Bernie on the floor and was so loving, and really took her time in explaining her thinking and the steps she wanted to take, respecting our financial needs and desires to go step by step with diagnostics. I only wish that she saw animals in a primary care setting because I would definitely trust her! To boot, the office is immaculately clean and cheerful. Bernie cat enjoyed the view from our exam room window (photo from the back to protect his identity of course). Definitely would come back, but hope we don’t have to!

This was my first time in 10 years having to bring our dog to urgent care (our dog is 10 yr old!). So imagine…a little nerve wracking to say the least. The staff was super friendly and caring of our beloved Charlie. Especially the doctor. She was very gentle with our sick pup and explained everything that was going on in great detail, but also made things easy to understand at the same time. She showed great compassion, as well as the whole staff, and you can tell that they love what they do and are very good at their jobs. They took Charlie in almost immediately and assessed him. As far as waiting for results of tests and such, wait time was to be expected when going to urgent care. Not to mention… very clean and aesthetic in there! They offered a little snack bar, mini fridge with drinks, & a coffee maker! Lastly, I really like that they follow up after the appt and text you to see how your pet is doing - it was probably about 24 hr after they saw him. It’s nice because you are actually talking to a real person, and if you have any questions, they are quite timely (and genuine!) with their response. And from my understanding, you can text that number whenever during operating hours (which they stay open to a decent time!). Highly recommend :)

When my cat had a swollen paw after hours of our primary care vet clinic we were recommended to come here. Great service, easy to get an appointment, and kind staff! We thank you so much for getting our baby back to feeling like her normal self. I also thought the cost was reasonable for being an after hours place! Def recommend if you need to get see but don’t need the level of care of an emergency vet.

I can't say enough good things about Truss Vet. I brought my 16 year old, very ill kitty in, and I had to make the very tough decision to let him die with dignity. I saw Dr. Waltz first, and she was so nice and explained everything so thoroughly. There was never any judgment...only kindness and empathy. On the day of the procedure, we saw Dr. Maynard, and she also was so very kind, compassionate and gentle. It was the hardest day of my life, but they certainly helped ease the pain. The rainbow room is perfect, and they let you have as much time as you need with your fur baby. The assistants were also all so sweet. I am very grateful for this place. 1000/10.💙

My sweet 2 year old cat suddenly got very sick and needed to be treated asap. I was so scared for how she would do as she’s an indoor cat and I thought the transportation alone would upset her. She did wonderfully and once we were in the exam room, with no wait time, she was free to explore. The staff were so gentle and loving to both of us during this scary event. I hadn’t ever taken a pet to urgent care and wasn’t looking forward to the cost. They were transparent every step of the way about potential cost of things which I really appreciated. I highly recommend this place!
