How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I cannot say enough good things about these folks! We have been going to them for years and they always take such good care of our cats. They are very experienced and caring which is exactly what you want in your medical provider, pet or human! Thanks all! We appreciate you!

I've always gotten good service here. Over the years, I have had 4 dogs and 2 cats at this location. For my last visit, I was dropping our pups off at boarding- hours before a trip, only to find out that a vaccine expired a few days before. Banfield was able to get us in and out so we could leave on time.

This is my personal experience & opinion only! Banfield is like a machine to generate money not a veterinarian office with care & concern. I highly recommend that anyone & everyone go elsewhere! These people have zero concern for you or your pets! Like I said it's a money generating business. I understand that each & every business is about generating cash flow but Banfield does it with a cold heart & severe lack of compassion while dealing with hurt or sick animals! And as far as having concern for the animal owner well that is non existent within this machine. There are other veterinarians in this area that have the care, compassion & concern for animals & the animal owners. If anyone reading this would like to know the information & location of a great veterinarian just message me & I can help get you & your animal away from Banfield & to a place that actually cares & doesn't display their lust for your money. Thank you!

0 stars All they care about is making money and upsales in packages. My dog was on their plan for 9 years, the one time he was sick they couldn’t have cared less about getting him seen, or my concerns about how he was acting. Took me calling every location for 3 days until they decided I could drop off my sick dog who was there waiting alone for 7 hours. Blew off his symptoms with no call back to check on him, only called back to schedule unnecessary services that had nothing to do with what was wrong with him and tried to upsale me on a more expensive monthly plan. One week later my dog is now gone due to negligence in my opinion and trying to make a extra dollar with no regard for my dogs health. They used to seem to care about animals but in the last few years it seems they are more concerned about money over the animals.

So I’ve used this location the past 12-13 years with all my dogs. They all recently went for vaccines and my eldest was getting a dental and mass removal. Dr. Burris has always been amazing. My dogs mean the world to me and I know Banfield takes fantastic care of them. I’m sure they’re tired of hearing my voice and seeing my face but not once have I ever been greeted with disrespect or unprofessional attitudes. They know my girls my name and it’s amazing to see how each staff member loves my babies. I will always use this location as they are apart of my dogs lives as well as my own. I know the day my eldest passes will be hard on me and Banfield staff as they have known her since she was 6 months old. This location is wonderful. Without a double. Thank you to Britney the vet tech (I think) and Dr. Burris for loving my girls and being all around perfect!❤️
