How to Save Money at Dilworth Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Beautiful house this animal hospital is located in! Friendly, caring staff and my teddy bear, Sasso, actually didn’t mind going there! They gave him treats and he wasn’t too stressed out so we will continue going here for regular appointments! He went in for allergies and itching. They gave him a pill to take twice a day for 2 weeks and it has helped tremendously!!! So thankful!

Literally the best vets ever! Vets and staff are beyond amazing ... I wouldnt trust my pet with anyone else. I lost 2 dogs in the past 6 months and they went above and beyond to really care for them in their last days. I couldnt be more greatful during such a difficult time. Have always treated my dogs as if they were their own. I am so greatful for everything they have done and I recommend them 100%

The staff does seem to take good care of the animals and genuinely care for them. However, they do seem to be very negative people. - I went in for a work in interview and was told by the owner I would be compensated for my time, considering I continuously working while I was there and I also missed work at my regular job I had at the time, to be there. Prior to me leaving a woman in the company took me outside to discuss pay and if we would move forward. In that moment, I think it was a mutual decision to not move forward considering I did not feel like I would fit in with the team, plus the pay and hours were not what the owner and I had previously discussed - so I was no longer interested in the position. My Issue is the lack of communication from the company since then. - The woman took my phone number to reach out about paying me for the day and how they felt about bringing me onboard. - I NEVER received any messages from that point on! I have called and emailed more times than I can remember. I am disappointed in the lack of communication and the lack of concern for someone else’s time. - I would not waste your time going in for a work in interview unless you’re okay with being lied to and not being paid for your time. - I took a lot of steps before leaving a review but since they want to ignore me, I will make sure others are aware of how this company treats people.

Staff is extremely kind and intentional with pets, they treat Lillia like a princess when she visits. I came because they took reptiles and I had a couple of turtles and wanted them to have a starting health check for reference if they did get sick and stayed because of the level of care they have given all of my pets including our dog your her last 7 years and or puppy Lillia for the last six months.

I just realized I must’ve put my phone in my purse mid review and it autocorrected to “nah” and posted somehow. ANYWAYS, this place is phenomenal! We have two little pups who are finicky at best and the vet techs here always treat them with such kindness and care. I highly recommend this vet!
