How to Save Money at Brookdale Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

cannot say enough good things about Brookdale Animal Hospital. Their staff is absolutely amazing and incredibly supportive. For over a decade, they've been our trusted vet in keeping our beloved furry family member, Cammie, in the best of health. Dr. Miles, in particular, has been a true angel in our lives. She treats Cammie as if she were her very own, and her love and dedication shine through in every interaction. It's not just her medical expertise, but her genuine care and compassion that set her apart. We always felt that Cammie was in the best possible hands. Recently, we had to make the heart-wrenching decision to say goodbye to our dear Cammie. The entire team at Brookdale Animal Hospital demonstrated an extraordinary level of understanding, empathy, and support during this incredibly difficult time. They made the process as gentle and compassionate as it could possibly be, allowing us to give Cammie the peaceful farewell she deserved. Choosing a veterinarian is one of the most important decisions a pet owner can make, and we feel so grateful to have found Brookdale Animal Hospital. They go above and beyond in providing top-notch medical care, but it's their unwavering support and kindness that truly make them stand out. We can't recommend them highly enough. Thank you, Brookdale, for being a source of comfort, care, and excellence for our family and our cherished pets.

The vet was willing to get down on the floor at my dogs level. She gets very nervous, but they had treats to try to comfort her. They also had my consent to use anesthesia for X-rays, but we're able to do it without. This tells me they were able to get my puppy (a grown up German Shepherd) to relax, and it saved me money. I appreciate all aspects of that!

We’ve been coming to this vet since 2016 and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Their communication skills have always been amazing! They are proactive in scheduling appointments and are always happy to answer any questions. Dr. Pressley is a very reasonable vet that you can trust. He’s not out to “take your money”, but to overall be mindful of costs AND take care of your animal. BUT the best part. I called today in a frantic because my dog wouldn’t move his leg and it was completely swollen. They were closing in an hour, but they without hesitation said bring him in. They will always have my business with this level of customer service and just in general giving a care! Awesome job brookdale!

Absolutely the best Veterinary Hospital. My mom's dog was seen by Dr Miles and Kristen they were kind and patient in explaining everything so my mom understood. We called back and spoke to Daphne after we got home with a few more questions regarding medicines. She was also very helpful and patient. Great group of people. We highly recommend taking your pets to see them.

Not very compassionate people who prioritize money over your pets well-being. I took my 15 year old yorkie to Brookdale a few times to get help on his weight loss, loss of eyesight etc… before my dog went to Brookdale he could digest his food and had no issues with eating. During one of our visits the vet instructed us to switch his diet as he isn’t obtaining all of his nutrients. We informed the vet that he has never done well on other food and it has never worked in the past when switching him over and we’ve actually had other vets recommend his food that he was on. Long story short, our dog became severely sick from switching over his food that we told Brookdale he needed to come back. At the time, we could not afford another vet visit as our dog had already seen them plenty of times before. We asked Brookdale if they could see our dog with little to no cost since he was returning for the same issue and is sick because of their request. They told us no and that we still have to pay full price even when informing them that our dog has not been able to keep food down and is severely dehydrated. We took our dog to another vet that was kind enough to see him short notice and with reasonable cost and unfortunately told us that due to the trauma his body has been under due to his diet change and age, that he needed to be put down as he wouldn’t be living a comfortable life anymore. We tried to hold on to our senior dog as long as we could, trying different medicines etc that the other vet was very kind enough to supply us with, but we realized it was time for him to go after little to no improvements. Fast forward a few months, my family realized it was time to adopt another dog and we needed some references in order to adopt a dog we had found. When reaching out to Brookdale for our previous dogs documentation, they denied they ever had any record of our senior dog. Unfortunately, from our experience I can confidently say that brookdale is not compassionate and does not have your pets best interest at heart.
