How to Save Money at Ark Veterinary Services PLLC

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This animal hospital is so nice! Everyone that works here is friendly and loves the animals in their care. The clinic itself is decorated so pretty and modern in black and pink. My dogs have seen Dr. Derrick Prioleau and Dr. Kevin Scruggs. They both are extremely knowledgeable. My dogs love going there, and do not shake in fear like they have at other vet offices. Recently, Dr. Scruggs removed a tumor from one of my dogs. He kept me informed of everything that was happening with the surgery and explained what was found once the results came back from the tumor report. He was so kind and understanding of my dogs being like children to me.

Ark Veterinary Services comes highly recommended. Dr. Prioleau took great care of my dog and he is doing so much better since his visit. Dr. Prioleau took time over the holiday weekend to care for my dog and gave me updates when I called to check on him. He is very knowledgable and you can truly tell he loves what he does. The facility is extremely nice and the staff were very welcoming. If you’re looking for a veterinarian and in the Charlotte, NC area check out Ark Veterinary Services.

I am writing this review with immense disappointment and frustration regarding the Ark Veterinary Clinic. As pet owners who have had a diagnosed diabetic dog for the past 5 years, we have dealt with numerous veterinarians due to relocations, but our recent experience with Ark Veterinary Clinic has been nothing short of a nightmare. Our dog's diabetes management has always been straightforward, with multiple vets across different states approving her insulin prescription without unnecessary hurdles. However, our ordeal began when we approached Ark Veterinary Clinic to authorize our dog's insulin prescription for Chewy. Shockingly, we were informed that they would not approve the insulin prescription unless our dog underwent a series of unnecessary tests. This stance is not only baffling but also deeply concerning, as the medication in question is vital to our dog's survival. It feels like Ark Veterinary Clinic has essentially taken our diabetic dog hostage, making her well-being contingent on compliance with their arbitrary demands. What makes this situation even more infuriating is the fact that upon reaching out to other veterinary clinics in the area, we discovered that none of them impose such stringent requirements for diabetic dogs. We have never encountered a vet who refuses to approve a life-saving medication unless the pet owner agrees to unnecessary and costly tests. This arbitrary policy not only places an unnecessary financial burden on pet owners but also raises serious ethical questions about Ark Veterinary Clinic's priorities. It appears that they are more interested in extracting money from pet owners than prioritizing the health and well-being of the animals under their care. We strongly advise pet owners to think twice before entrusting their furry friends to Ark Veterinary Clinic. Our experience has left us questioning the integrity and compassion of this establishment, and we will be actively seeking a more reasonable and pet-friendly veterinary clinic for our beloved dog's care.

Genuinely so glad that I came here. I was referred by another clinic that doesn't take reptiles, and when I started noticing my leopard gecko looking a little sick, I made the appointment. The receptionist answered all my dumb questions and helped me through it, and when the doctor and nurse came out I was walked through everything. They explained what they were doing and why, what they can try(very transparent about pricing) and gave me resources to help me find the best way to help my pet. I will definitely be returning here if the need comes. They are affordable, comforting, and informative, everything I could want in my first trip to the vet.

Been about 2 weeks now since I took my dog to ARK. Techs and vet seem very competent. She got her boosters, rabies vaccine and dental cleaning. Price was high, but I knew that going in. Happy and satisfied with services provided. I would definately go back for future needs. New business and convenient location. Plenty of parking. They have 3 vets, so I'm thinking there shouldn't be much, if any, wait time. First time through may be a little longer. Vet explained everything that was done and very professional manner. I think it's worth looking in, if you're looking for pet health provider.
