How to Save Money at Green Level Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

Took my 9 year old dog in today. I cannot say enough good about this place. We’re newer to the area, and on Friday took my dog to an Apex vet for suspected liver issues. We essentially left with a wait and see till Monday, and today it just seemed like we couldnt wait so I brought him here. They put him on three medications the other vet didn’t even mention being able to give him now. And for SO much cheaper. My dog trotted out of there and came home and tried to play for the first time in 3 days. I was so worried about going somewhere near Amberly due to pricing and these folks are so affordable. I will be having my roommates take their pets here as well. The vet, the tech, both are so kind, thorough, knowledgeable, handle pets beautifully and their bedside matter when dealing with serious medical issues is so reassuring. Seriously, go here. You’ll be glad you did. We’ll be back Tuesday for more work.

My dog eat winterberry and vomit on weekend. Our vet was not on duty then. So we found this place open on weekend and called to ask if able to walk in. The staff was kind and told vet our situation and immediately told us to come asap and handled my dog with care. The vet explained in details what is the options and educated us when to go ER if needed. So glad to find this place open on weekends and take care of this emergency situation.

We brought our 8 month old French bulldog in who was vomiting and not being her usual self. The vet and all of the staff were amazing, they were very patient with all of our questions and answered them very thoroughly...they are very knowledgeable and they took excellent care of our puppy, and top of all that, they're open on the weekends. Highly recommend!!!

BEWARE. Writing this review to warn others who are also lured in by the nice location and aesthetically pleasing office. Overpriced if you price compare and pay attention to what they are trying to do to your pet/sell you on. Veterinarian Padmavathi Polu will try to get the most money out of you as possible. Waste of two trips in and she scammed us out of $150. PLEASE READ for an explanation of our experience. Stick to this plaza for your food needs only! (I am an RN at Duke and my husband is a UNC physician- we are a credible source). This practice was advertising a discounted neuter/spay promotion as the practice is trying to get new clients. (Our trusted vet was booking months out - so wanted to try.) This vet asked to see us for a well visit, as well as blood work on our puppy. (Our trusted vet Dr.Donna Tyson-Tyson Animal Hospital does not require blood work for a spay or neuter- now I know that neither do most vets- it is recommended but most experienced and confident vets will say it is not necessary. I doubt most clinics who do neuter/spay do either.) Not knowing this at the time- I agreed do the bloodwork. Platelet count was 146. Dr. Polu said she wanted to do the blood work again the morning of the neuter to make sure the puppy would not bleed out. During this visit she also was pushy on flea and tick meds and a very very small hernia repair. A week later, at the time still not knowing that bloodwork is not necessary. I agreed again to let them poke our puppy again. (She was also very rude walking in with us from the parking lot getting out of her car commenting at our little puppy, "Oh you are not a happy buddy this morning". Right in front of my son. A different woman greeted us in the exam room - not the tech or Dr. Polu- this girl did not even introduce herself) and they took him to draw blood. This girl went over the bill with me- it reflected the hernia repair and the cone collar. I declined the hernia prior and also brought a cone with me to use. There was also an anti nausea medication for $58 that she instead was necessary. This bill was for $660. I waited over an hour on blood work results. Dr. Polu kept going back and forth to proceed or not. In the exam room she said the platelet count now read 124. This time the reference range on that lab report referenced normal as 126-660- which would have put our first draw within the normal range and not in need of this repete. I was further confused. Anyone with clinical medical knowledge will agree this value is slightly low, however a neuter is a minimally invasive routine 15-20 min procedure at most and a dog is not going to bleed out from a simple neuter with a slightly lower platelet count if a vet knows what they are doing- where to clamp/clip ect. A neuter is not opening the belly or doing anything major. Invasive surgery is performed on people with lower platelet counts! She said she could send this blood to a special dog pathologist- again at another charge. She said he could have bone marrow cancer and she appeared scared to neuter our dog. I left the office in tears and immediately called Tyson Animal Hospital and spoke with Donna Tyson - an experienced vet with over 30 years of owning her own practice. She said platelet counts often fluctuate and a low count most commonly indicates immunodeficiencies- reassured us this count was not that low and said our puppy has no signs whatsoever of the clinical symptoms that would be present with bone marrow cancer or any immune problems. Our puppy was neutered that day for $166. ZERO COMPLICATIONS. I picked him up that evening with a little pain medication (no $58 doggy nausea medication). Please beware of "Green level animal hospital" , has an unfortunate selfish owner- not confident and probably found herself in a lawsuit in her career in the past. The receptionist told me he was not surprised at our experience with Dr. Polu. May report to vet board. Unethical- taking someone’s money for irrelevant testing twice, changing lab value ranges and providing them with incorrect diagnoses.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff care for my 3 dogs and 2 cats. Definitely recommend for exams, vaccinations, bloodwork and any health concerns. They see my animals in a timely manner and have clean, nice facilities. Also, make follow-up calls to check on my pets. Thank you for great service!
