How to Save Money at Town N Country Animal Hospital on Forestdale

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Town and Country is absolutely fabulous! They give the best care for both of my pups, Buddy Buster and Ziggy Wiggles. Dr King is top shelf and saved the life of my darling little Buddy Buster nearly four years ago. He is a happy pup and in great shape thanks to Dr King. Her skills and knowledge know no end and her compassion for animals and humans is far reaching. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else for pet care. Town and Country is simply the best! They are incredibly trustworthy, gentle, and kind. I highly recommend them to all folks and their pets.

Scheduling has been easy and they’re usually able to get my cat in within a reasonable timeframe. They were very kind to my little Luigi!

Ghost with the Most

They were extremely friendly with me and my dog. She has bad anxiety and got off the leash and instead of pulling her after we put it back on they let me help them take her back. They're amazing I would recommend them everytime. 😍 they're always the best with my dogs

I am very disappointed with the outcome of my visit.I brought my eighteen year old Small dog to check her stool. When I went to pick her up, there was a $700 bill. I'm on social security. That's over half of my monthly income. They never checked the stool. They gave her a full organ test to tell me her organs were failing. What would I have done anyway? I couldn't afford to have a new lung. Put in a liver a heart. It was ridiculous, totally disappointed would never bring my dog there. They have turned our animals into human, sorry. I will not be able to own. Another pet, it's very unfortunate cause. I love animals. Thanks.

Only reason I put a star is to write a review but I give no stars. We just had a bad experience today at this location for my dog grooming service. He was just there to get a bath, blow dry, brush and sanitary cut. So my dog was dropped off at 7am and didn’t get finish until after 4pm, no one reached out to say he was finished. I had to call up there to get an update. My dog came home only washed and blow dry out. No comb or brush out was done and he is a golden doodle. His sanitary cut was only done in the back not where we asked for it to be done, which was the front pee area. They tell us our dog would not let them brush him out, which I have a hard time believing. So unprofessional, never experienced that before since going to town and country hospital and we will not be using there services again. I tried to get answers over the phone today but the lady at the first desk just left me on hold for so long. My dog has been to so many groomers and they never had an issue brushing his hair. We thought taking him here just to get a bath would not be an issue but now we know we will go back to our other places that are more professional and know what they are doing. I feel the amount of time they had, someone could have called us and explained what was going on and give us an update on what time to pick our dog up, I am glad I just told my husband to go up there to see if he was ready.
