How to Save Money at Spay & Neuter Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Still not allowing anyone inside, but the associates were fast and very courteous when they headed out to the car. Intake was fast and staff was very sweet. Surgery went well and staff communicated well throughout the process.

My adult cat has never been around other cat, she only grew up with dogs, until now. She had had, all her newborn stuff but we didn't have that paperwork. We had her spayed and she had gotten rabies and shots then as well as a microchip. I took her to the clinic today to get her some additional shots, flea, tick++ prevention. We very recently lost the last of our dogs & are not ready for another. Normally, I would feel shame, no matter what my reasons were and my experiences with these injections and past pets. They had absolutely Nothing Negative to say. I brought her previous paperwork from 9 yrs ago. Due to the fact she was going in there, I did not want her coming out with fleas. We are also Fostering to Adopt a 8 wk old 1.8lb kitten so the kitten is protected and will be going in and out for boosters & finally Spayed. I purchase the 3 Month pack and they gave her the first dose they're so I wouldn't be bringing home any uninvited guests. Brooke was amazing! Answered every single question I had, never in a rush. Stayed to make sure I didn't forget anything. I felt guilty that Eva had to get shots just because of the Kitten,I had the air on Max everything seemed fine and then Ava started opening her mouth & panting. I watched her in the car for 5 mins. Took her right back in. I told the lady at front fork Brooke helped me, it's like she heard me and came running out. Told her what was going on she rushed Ava back. The vet brought Ava back to me. I wish this man had his own practice. I read & feel People's Energy. This man was absolutely the most loving and compassionate man I've met in a long time. Even surpassing my own Vet. So if your dog or cat needs to be Spayed or Neutered. Absolutely know that your baby is in the best possible hands.

Highly recommend. They had the earliest available visit to spay my cat. I was super concerned because I love my cats so much but they handled everything so well. Not only did they do a good job but have answered post surgery questions for months. This clinic is such a gem for those who want good service for their pets but cannot afford hundreds of dollars of bills. Worth driving all the way from Durham.

Everyone was excellent!!! We took in a stray cat he is amazing. Mylo is the most loving and calm cat we have ever seen or had. We had him neutered today. These ladies took awesome care of him, they called when he was out of surgery and we could pick him up at 2!!! We had curb service at drop off and pick up. They explained everything to us about his after care! What a great place and the ladies were super sweet!! Thank you so much!!!

I highly recommend this establishment because they made me feel welcome! Never went before so I didn't realize you needed an appointment, & I needed some sensitive information and they took the time to share. It would be somewhere I would return to with my für baby. 🐾🙂
