How to Save Money at NewDay Veterinary Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The staff are friendly, thorough, and patient. Answer all your questions. We have the premium plan just got my dogs all their annual vaccines and it cost NOTHING! We've used their services for two years and we LOVE New Day.

Good experience with Dr. Silva and the staff. This is one of the easiest vet groups we’ve worked with. Great communication, conservative care, and our dog seems to feel reasonable comfortable (she’s seriously anxious). Happy to have found this spot.

NewDay Veterinary Care is the vet affiliated with Pet Paradise (pet hotel, doggy daycare, grooming). They've been with Pet Paradise in Cary since the opening, but have recently rebranded as a separate leg of Pet Paradise. When I got the notifications about the rebrand, I felt inclined to leave this review because the NewDay vet care is just the absolute best. Dr. Silva, who truly loves animals, has been seeing my dog, Brownie, since ~2018 and has prolonged his life and increased his quality of life in so many ways and at so many stages. She has diagnosed and treated Brownie's congenital heart failure (determined an effective medication, diet, and monitoring plan, treated his congestion episodes). She has safely operated on him as senior high-risk dog. Dr. Silva and her team take and maintain detailed notes of your pet's symptoms/test results/etc.... so well that we recently noticed a spike in one of his levels, and she was able to trace back a similar spike from the previous year and identify the culprit. In 2021, we also adopted another senior dog, Rosie, who NewDay likewise cared for. Unfortunately, our sweet girl had a terminal disease and we had to say goodbye to her. We weren't in Cary at the time, but Dr. Silva still took my calls to provide her perspective based on her experience with the disease; and she thoughtfully responded to all of my questions that I had about the disease after we had to say goodbye to our Rosie. Her willingness to listen and respond, even after Rosie was gone, meant a lot and just goes to show that she really cares about her patients. And one last note will be about the veterinary staff - they are all very competent and work together really well as a team. I always get consistent information, quick responses, and always feel like they are listening to my concerns and needs. They all really care for animals, and as much as I hate leaving my pup at the vet; I feel at ease when I leave him at NewDay because they are gentle and caring. Over the last several months, we have not been in the Cary area, and the worst part has been that we have been too far from NewDay. I've had to go to multiple other vets in those months and the contrast in quality of care is striking - NewDay in Cary is truly amazing. I've relied on NewDay's virtual appointments to supplement the vet care while we've been gone... and we are returning to the area soon and our first stop is literally NewDay Veterinary Care! Brownie will even get doggy ice cream after he's done with his check-up!

Would recommend to any friends‼️ Boarded my pup 🐶 here for the first time and it seemed as though he had a great time. The staff was very friendly throughout the experience from the first phone call I made to book the overnight stay. Webcams: They do offer webcam to watch your pup at play. Unfortunately, i was not able to log on during my pups play time. I appreciate them having this option to make sure everything is going okay. Pro: • they offer discount for health care workers and first time stays. •awesome pool for the pups •reasonable prices •they can give your pup a bath before you pic them up from boarding Cons: •unsure of the exact play times. Which make it difficult to check the webcam to see how things are going. P.S - there is a $20 late check out fee if you pick after 12noon.

On 7/25, my 15 year old dog, Cyrus, started showing signs of being sick. On 7/26, I called his normal vet to get an emergency appointment. I was told they could not see him until 6 days later. I spent all of 7/26 calling looking for a vet that would take him, that included multiple emergency vets. Made almost two dozen phone calls. Everyone turned him down. Then on 7/27, I came across a facebook post while doing a search and I came across a comment about NewDay from a vet tech there named Heather. I reached out to her via messenger and she was on top of it since the first second I wrote her. She got me in for a same day appointment. I was in tears. When I got Cyrus there, I met Dr. Silva and another vet tech (sorry I forgot your name). They immediately started getting his background and began testing. Dr. Silva was so compassionate and understanding. Unfortunately, his x-rays showed something I feared terribly but Dr. Silva helped me understand it and helped me through it. I lost Cyrus on 7/30 but if it wasn't for the help and the quick actions of the staff at NewDay, then Cyrus would have suffered his last few days. Thank y'all from the bottom of my heart. When I am ready for my next baby, I will not go anywhere but here.
