How to Save Money at Cloverhaven Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I was a past client of Cloverhaven with other animals and looked forward to seeing them again with my new dog. I knew there were new vets and office staff since I had visited the last time and the first person I talked to when calling didn't find me in their system, but I needed to bring my dog in, so I pressed on with the appointment. When we got there, Savanna at the front desk was so incredibly friendly and helpful to me with an anxious scared dog coming to a new place. She actually found that I was in their system, so that was nice and very reassuring! She went over and beyond to make Harper comfortable, too. It's just so important to pet owners coming to a new place, or even calling to make the appointment, to experience this kindness in an already tense situation, so I am so grateful to Savanna for making our first experience pleasant in the waiting room. Then, we saw Dr. Sam, and I could not be more pleased with her approach! She is a fear-free certified vet with deep, honest compassion, expertise in dog behavior and a world of knowledge I feel I can trust. She was able to tell me things I did not even realize in Harper's behavior that showed her stress level, but then within minutes, because of Dr. Sam and Savanna, Harper calmed herself and was relaxed and content! Thank you to both of them for a great experience. A+

We learned real quick just how great Cloverhaven Animal! We own a farm and our Australian Shepherd puppy likes to roam with others. He accidentally ate rat poison. After all hope was gone, Dr Moore said she could try a blood transfusion. This wasn’t just any blood but the blood from a Labrador owned by a technician that works at the clinic. Thanks to Dr Moore and Savanna they were able to save our Buck. They truly care about all.

For over 15 years I have been taking my pets to see Dr. Kelly and her staff. They recognize us when we come in, give the best care to our permanent pets and many (many) fosters, and the facility is always clean. For long-haired kitties, they are the only reasonable cat grooming establishment in the area, too. We are grateful for the compassion and kindness they show every time we visit. They have saved the lives of so many of our foster kittens, and are who we recommend when we find forever homes for all of the animals we care for from TLHS and local individuals.

Dr. Stephenson and his staff are always so nice and informative when I take my dog to the vet. My dog has had two procedures at this clinic. The first procedure required my dog to stay at the clinic for several nights and Dr. Stephenson personally sent pictures of my pet so I could see his progress. Savanna is has also been great with my dog. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else.

The receptionist is rude as hell. I’m not the only person that thinks that’s either. She was rude to my 82 year old aunt when she dropped my dog off. Didn’t ask her what my dogs name was or why she was here, just took her. Come to find out my aunt took her to the wrong place but clover haven would have known that if they would have checked my dog in properly. 🤷♀️ but the receptionist just looked aggravated from all the other animals in the waiting room, making to much noise. They also pick and chose who they make pay the vet visit which is 50$. I’m done with them. Not sure where I’ll get my dogs heart worm shot but it won’t be at Cloverhaven! I’ll drive the Baldwin before I step foot in that god forsaken place. As far as the vets, and vet techs, they’re wonderful!!! Just the receptionist that’s rude and don’t have no home training, even tho she’s looks to be in her 40s-50s. If you don’t like your job, then leave.
