How to Save Money at Animal Care Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Brought are two parrots today to see Dr. Askew. What a FANTASTIC doctor. So kind and efficient. His assistant that helped with the parrots today was excellent also. She is the best. I am 100% satisfied and would never go anywhere else. If you have birds there is no better place to go!!!

Great place to bring your pets, especially if you have birds! Appointments are available to make it easy, and the premises are nice and clean. Dr. Askew is the best, who treats animals with respect and love. Highly recommended! Casper and Pepper couldn't have better attention.

I had a first time visit today with Animal Care Hospital. I noticed that my cat was not feeling himself and I was afraid he may have gotten into something, so rather than wait and see, I wanted to get him in to a vet. My regular vet had nothing available, which is a normal problem I have with them, it is always a week out and that's fine for annual visits, but not when you need something more than a wellness visit, that doesn't require a visit to an ER. I happened to call Animal Care Hospital and by luck they had a cancelation for that morning, so I was able to get right in. Everyone was very pleasant that I interacted with and the doctor addressed all my concerns. As my boy is an FIV cat I worry about him being sick, so she did some extensive blood work. One of the great things was that they did the tests in house, so I didn't have to wait for a call back in a day or two. I made a quick trip to Walmart while they worked on him and when I came back to pick him up, the doctor was able to read the blood work and give us results immediately. He needed a couple of meds, which she did as a long acting injections, another bonus if you have ever had to pill a cat, you know how much fun that is. Overall it was a very good experience. I didn't think the cost was inexpensive, but it wasn't crazy either, it was fair. Pets are not cheap and running a business has a lot of overhead, so I expect to pay for services. I will not hesitate to call them again if I need one of our furbabies to see someone and will likely call them before trying my other vet.

I am Extremely picky! Visiting from out of town our Shih tzu developed an ear infection, we got a Sat appointment, the vet was incredibly thorough! Took a chest X-ray when our other vet has not felt it necessary due to a heart murmur, got the ear issue resolved and started on a heart Med. I am a hyper vigilant pet parent & truly appreciate her care! Price was much less than I anticipated! Highly recommend!!!

Took my 12 week old pup to Animal Care Hospital after several phone calls confirming that they were experienced with the Cane Corso breed and cropping ears. I was assured that they had performed multiple crops and were very experienced with this breed. Set up the appointment with Stephanie Stubbs, I provided picture examples of what I wanted and specified a "Show Crop" cut. The first picture he is about 16 weeks and the second he is just shy of 5 months. The pictures tell the story! Not only is this not a Show Crop cut, but one ear is close to an inch longer than the other. Can't even begin to express how disappointed I am with Stephanie Stub's incompetents, poor quality work and lack of concern. DO NOT ALLOW STEPAHNIE STUBBS TO CROP ANY DOGS EAR!
