How to Save Money at Bogey Hills Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I'm currently here with my cat, who is terrified. Also, this is my first ever visit here. We're in exam room 2 and we've had an appointment at 4 it's 4:46pm and I got here at 3:55pm ready for the appointment. They checked his weight and ears, and that's all. That's literally $64.00 for that "exam." My cat has an ear infection, and I get an invoice for the test." This 1 picture is the invoice. My cat in the second is before anyone greeted him. The 3rd is the aftermath of his deep ear swabbing. Like easily and inch in his ear, he hated it bit got through it. The 110.08 is the bill for test, no medicine, and no real exams, and I'm just done. Thought everyone was happy and had good vibes until the "exam" was over. Thtlat wasn't work 64.00 for that exam it wasn't a proper examination. The last picture was the full price after medicine, even though I never got to see the results that I asked multiple times for. Especially since I paid 110.8 for tests alone. The last photo is the dr.s notes. This place scams people. My cat didn't receive special treatment for almost two hundred dollars of checkups and medicine, not including the visit, which all together comes to a total of $238.13 (two hundred and thirty eight dollars and thirteen cents). That's how much you'll pay for somebody. Who has a degree from vettinarian school to look in your cat's ears and check their weight with medicine. That's $64. When you can get it way cheaper and chewy.com. When I asked for the diagnosis. Like the test results on paper, they refused to give them to me. They said that the test results would basically be the doctor's notes after the visit. And that just wasn't acceptable. Because if I'm paying $110 for results. I want to be able to see them, not just be told about them. SCAMMING PEOPLE. 0 STARS IF GOOGLE MADE IT POSSIBLE!

Noelle made our appointment booking experience feel absolutely effortless, she was so kind and patient; We are more at ease knowing that this is the way we should expect to be treated upon bringing our baby in, for her first appointment, here. Definitely looking forward to bringing our dog in, thanks to Noelle and her great service. I will update my review ☺️

I love Bogey Hills Animal Hospital! They are thorough and caring. The new building is nice and the parking is perfect. So much more room than the other place. I didn't have to wait at all. They took us right in and made us comfortable. Everything was explained that I needed to care for my Kitty. The vet assistant was so helpful and kind, and she showed me how to give my Baby her meds without spitting them out. LOL! She knows her stuff! Thank You for all your help and compassion! I appreciate you all so much. ❤️
