How to Save Money at Angel Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My feral stray that is a baby kitten got to see Dr Jane Flathers. The staff helped me check in and were very helpful and attentive to my newest addition. I thought it would be just another trauma for my kitten and it was a new vet for me since I moved to Springfield recently. Instead, my cat received the perfect personal touch by the staff and Dr Flathers. She barely noticed her rabies shot and I can’t believe how she was purring and sweet by the time we were leaving. Amazing place and amazing care. ☺️

I brought my rescue dog in for a very much needed dental. Angel Animal Hospital was so great to work with! Their facility is very nice and clean. Their staff is friendly. They got my dog in very quick when I dropped her off. I got a phone call as soon as they were finished with the dental to let me know how things went and at pick-up the vet personally talked me though her findings during the procedure and even showed me pictures. I really appreciated their call the following day to check in on my dog. Best part of all is it's been a week and my dog is an entirely new pup! Her health has noticeably improved. All in all my experience was a positive one. Price of dental was very reasonable as well. I definitely recommend.

To say that I’ve had a great experience with Dr. Flathers and her staff would be an absolute understatement. Both times that I have needed to be seen urgently about my cat, Leo, she was super prompt and full of great information. She’s patient, kind, and prompt, especially to worried pet parents who just want some answers for their babies. Her and her staff went out of their way to check on Leo both times he was seen to make sure that he was okay and doing better after his visit. Can’t thank these people enough for their peace of mind that they’ve provided me when dealing with my cat!

Moms cat was sick and unfortunately Mom didn’t have money at the time, so I called made the appointment and arranged to pay 77.00 for the exam and specified that they needed to call me before they made anymore charges to my card, because at the time I couldn’t be present. I knew that the cat probably would need medication and had a strict budget, being tomorrow is Thanksgiving!. They failed to call me and just charged my card for another 76.00 for treatment and antibiotics. After realizing this shortly after, I called and talked to the receptionist that was deeply sorry and aware that they didn’t call before charging my card again. She told me that the manager was in a meeting and she would be calling. Yesterday I got a call from the manager and she said that my Mom authorized the charge on the card and they wouldn’t do anything about it. Pretty sad way of doing business and not doing anything to correct faults. Also I might add that the doctor called me on the same day of the visit and gave me a run down of everything that they did. I said I was waiting on a call from the manager about the charge to the card. She even apologized, knowing that they were supposed to call me before hand. But I felt like she quickly rushed me off the phone. They get two stars only because the cat feels better and not a happy customer.
