How to Save Money at Odessa Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I am so very pleased with the care I have received at your clinic recently. I had moved out of the area from my previous vet. I hopped around just a little bit before deciding to permanently begin making this our home vet office. All of the gals at the front and the gals assisting in the rooms were smiling, welcoming, helpful, not rude nor impatient. All of my questions were answered without eye rolls or whispers amongst one another. The doctor/owner himself, Dr. Croucher, was very thorough even though his day is back to back and then some with patients. I didn't feel like a burden or just another cut of money. It truly felt like he had the best interest in mind with my pet. I had an emergency over the weekend with my Standard Poodle. It was thought by emergency personnel that we may face amputation. Dr Croucher really examined the wound. He fully explained what would or could happen and why. At this time, we are trying to save the limb and he did an amazing job patching my girl up. The healing part is up to my girl now! Either way, I know she is in great care with this vet office! A+++ Thank you all!

In may, I had to make a last minute call since my vet in grain valley closed. My 17 yr old girl was rapidly declining and they got her in pretty quickly that day to euthanize her. I was extremely nervous about bringing her in because I didn't know them and she was my baby since I was a little girl. The receptionist was very sympathetic on the phone, everyone was very nice and quick about it while also respecting our time as well after her passing.. I would deffinatley bring my other animals in when needed and im grateful for our first experience during a very hard time! Thank you guys so much!

They are SO great. Not only did they take amazing care of my baby, but I only paid $227 for a Spay, overnight stay, ear cleaning, toenail trimming, meds, and vaccinations for rabies, distemper and cough guard. 10/10 recommend them!!!

My yorkie had surgery by another clinic on Thursday, by Saturday she had not eaten or drank. The vet that did the surgery gave me a can of dogfood that she would supposedly eat. Didn’t happen. It’s Monday morning and she still hadn’t eaten anything. I called Odessa animal clinic to see if they could see her. Even though they were booked for the rest of the week they saw my little fur baby. She was kept at their clinic and she is receiving IV fluids. Bloodwork was also done, the vet called and she is in kidney failure. If the fluids don’t work they have suggested that she be put to sleep. My heart is heavy right now. I hope and pray this will not be the case. I wanted to update this post. My fur baby didn’t survive this horrible kidney disease. I lost her June 21st, 2023. I promised her before I had to put her to sleep that I would get another Yorkie and give her the love and affection I had given her for 6 years. Her death taught me something that I didn’t know, If you have a purebred Yorkie they are prone to getting an infection in the uterus and kidney problems if you don’t spay them. If you get one please spay them if it’s not your intention to have them bred.

This office does an assumed sale so beware. They treated for fleas without consent on a kitten that had the possibility of be euthanized due to a broken leg. Also charged for euthanizing it when it was unclear if someone was able to adopt the kitten that could afford the $1500.00 they wanted to amputate it. Then to top it off assumed cremation instead letting it be picked up for burial and when the subject was brought up they said it is their policy to assume that people want it treated for fleas and cremated when euthenized. They are dishonest and over priced. Had a goats leg amputated once at another vets office and it was only 300.00. Absolutely disgusted at the level of greed and dishonesty this vet has.
