How to Save Money at Animal Clinic of the Woodlands
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Everything was excellent. Making a first appointment and reminders to come in were very helpful. There are dog and cat doors to ensure no commingling or fighting for your pets safety when arriving. The front desk receptionists are very helpful to get your fur baby checked in and in a room to see Dr.Lillie Fitzpatrick. The Dr is very quick caring and compassionate. We are so grateful to have found such a wonderful Animal Clinic. You will not be disappointed if give them a try.

I have been to a few different animal clinics around KC but this one is by far my favorite. Super short wait time, very kind staff, their veterinarians are excellent. Even the pricing is better here. Highly recommend this place for you cat or dog health needs.

The staff at this office has earned our business for all 3 pups for the future. Backstory: Our sweet pup needed a nail and first digit removed from her front paw, and after multiple appointments with different vets, and more calls than I can count (and some mind blowing "quotes"), someone referred us to this clinic and I couldn't have been more thankful. I began speaking with Sara in the office via email, and she couldn't have been nicer. She not only asked the information relevant to our pups issue, but I really felt like she cared during our conversations, which I just didn't get from anyone else. We discussed treatment options, and pricing, and figured out a game plan for surgery. Fast forward 2 weeks-surgery morning. My husband did drop off and called me when he left. He immediately told me "we need to switch all our girls to this office". He said the staff was so nice to him, and he really felt like we were in great hands-our prior office has always felt very robotic, just a $$ in and out the door for them, they never remembered our dogs, us, or why we were there, and these are our 4 legged babies--he said this place had a completely different feeling to it. I did pickup, and I couldn't have agreed more. I got to meet Sara and Dr Fitzpatrick, and they were beyond lovely. We will be bringing all of our pups here moving forward. The staff at pickup was genuinely so so nice, and they seriously went above and beyond. It may have only been one experience with them, but not one of the other probably 10-15 places I called took the time to look at X-rays, photos, or discuss the next steps with us like this clinic and staff did. We are eternally grateful for them, and look forward to all of our routine visits here moving forward. Dakota says thank you for taking such great care of me!! ♥️

I was here right after midnight 12/1/2023 with my sister, niece and their baby Finn, a gentle giant of a Golden who was brought in for what was thought to be bleeding gums or a bad tooth. The entire staff was on top of the busy night and the Vet was one of the BEST I've watched. she was hoping to be able to help him surgically when dropped off. Unfortunately Finn had an aggressive mouth cancer that pretty much developed a large tumor under his tongue that wrapped around lower jaw and in gum in the past month and it was not operable. After being given a number of options, in a VERY caring manner, but also with the REALITY of the situation, my sis made the decision to let him go before it got worse and more painful. We were given all the time that we wanted and when ready the Doc came in and sat cross legged with the 3 of us on the floor and Finn and explained everything as she did it and exuded such empathy, love, and care the entire time both with Finn AND us humans. I have been a long time customer at MU Animal on N Oak in the Northland and was saddened when they had to close, but now, I have a new place to go to with confidence if/when needed. Thank you so much for all you did for my family and our boy Finn, y'all made an awful situation a little less heavy. I highly recommend this business!
