How to Save Money at Aurora Urgent Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This business is amazing, seriously. The two times I have unfortunately had to take my kitties to urgent care, the staff have been so kind, gentle, and supportive. And thanks to the knowledgeable Dr. Sitter, they both were doing so much better the very next day!! Additionally, they are so transparent with the pricing, which is very appreciated. The vet tech, Riley, sat with me yesterday and added up multiple total cost options for what it would be if I chose to do/not do certain tests/treatments. She even gave me recommendations for getting coupons since my poor kitty is going to have to be on a special diet due to a chronic condition. Also, the prices are SO REASONABLE. I was surprised I wasn’t paying multiple hundreds of dollars just for the tests she got; I was surprised when I went there with my kitten in August, too. The vet tech explained that’s their philosophy—treatments don’t need to be so expensive! The initial exam fee can seem daunting, but that’s largely the standard for urgent care—it helps make sure that those who don’t need urgent care leave room for those who do, and covers the work that goes into making sure your kitty gets seen and treated day-of :) And for this place, it’s more than worth it when you consider how affordable the tests and treatments are. The place is also very clean and comfortable. Keep doing amazing work, and THANK YOU!!

The kindest, most wonderful place I’ve been. They were amazing. They gave me multiple treatment options based on my pups health issues, and made sure I understood what was going on and how to properly care for him after our visit. They also gave me a crash course in nail trimming because I was unsure of the proper way to do it. It has been almost 24 hours since our visit, and my boy is already feeling a lot better. Incredible experience.

Aurora Urgent care IS the place to go for immediate pet concerns. My cat was seen within an hour of making the appointment and was cared for so thoroughly. My chonky cat is usually so stressed in new locations and they made the space so safe and calming for him that his tension just melted and he behaved in his normal manner within minutes of being escorted to the exam room. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Three days ago, I brought my cat to Aurora due to a severe abscess on his throat. His regular vet didn’t have any available appointments, and after calling a few other clinics, I discovered they were fully booked as well. However, all three vets I contacted recommended Aurora, mentioning they had only heard great things about their care. When I called Aurora, they were able to fit me in within the hour. Understanding my financial situation, they provided me with different options for his treatment, which I deeply appreciated. Once they shaved and cleaned the abscess, I was shocked to see it was about the size of a 50-cent piece on his throat. Incredibly, just one day later, the abscess had shrunk to the size of a quarter, and today it’s down to the size of a nickel! I’m amazed at how quickly and effectively my cat is healing. The team at Aurora was friendly, compassionate, and truly cared about my cat’s well-being. Their service is outstanding, and I am so grateful for everything they’ve done. They are absolutely amazing!

I can’t say enough good about this urgent care clinic! Im here from Florida with my dogs and family for 2 months. My 3 yr old dog Blake started vomiting on and off around 2am. At around 8am I was worried she had a flare up of pancreatitis. I called 12 vet clinics from River Falls, Wi, Stillwater, MN, all the way to Lakeland, MN. One of which Blake has been a client. Not one could fit Blake in. Telling me they were booked and I could make an appointment for later in the week. I explained she was vomiting lethargic and had a history of pancreatitis. I’m so thankful one of them gave me the name of this urgent care animal clinic! They were able to squeeze her in, the entire staff is amazing. Blake is a shy dog and Riley took her time letting Blake relax giving her treats and talking to her as she got Blakes information. Riley took time to go over her history sent from her regular vet in FL and was very friendly, calm and a great technician. Dr. Sitter came in took her time to let Blake relax a bit, even doing part of the exam getting down on the floor to help ease Blake’s fear. Went over options for Blake’s treatment, and got things done very quickly, no pressure. They were all great! The price was very fair and Blake is feeling much better tonight! Thank you all so much for your great care! Don’t hesitate to take your fur baby to see Dr. Sitter and her team if your fur baby is in need.
