How to Save Money at Omnivet Veterinary Urgent Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Omnivet saved the day for our Shadow cat! He had a large abscess behind his ear that they cleaned up, made him comfortable, and sent us home with clear instructions on how to take care of him. We walked in without calling and they got us right in. From the receptionists to the Veterinarian, all the staff was smiley and friendly. I could really tell they all love what they do and care about the animals and pet owners they see. It was a little pricey, but compared to other urgent care places for pets, it's not bad. I highly recommend Omnivet!

Omnivet was able to get our dog Shadow in for a visit 2 hours after calling. Shadow was bit by one of our other dogs and his wound was not healing well and I thought maybe he needed stitches. The Doctor recommended inspecting the wound even deeper to confirm the infection wasn’t more than what we could see. The Doctor provided us clear communication about what they were going to do, and worst case scenarios and price proposal before moving forward, so it was clear how they were going to check Shadows wound out. After doing so, we were given clear communication about what they did and found and after care instructions for cleaning and medicine. This communication was also typed up nicely and sent home with me. They have also reached out through email asking about Shadows healing and provided their number in case I needed to get in touch with them. This place has outstanding customer service. Their facility was very nice and clean. I highly recommend them for any pet emergencies you may have.

My 3 year old was bitten by a tick this past week and already began showing symptoms that she wasn’t well. I called and they got me in same day, and by that evening with the help of the doctors and medication she’s already feeling so much better! Ticks were a huge problem this year for our dogs but this was the first time we needed medical attention. Also, my father has a 13 almost 14 year old Mastiff that unfortunately let us know that it was her time. She was in tons of pain for her hips and she wasn’t able to continue good quality of life, so my father made the most difficult decision and with the assistance of this urgent care, our beautiful girl went peacefully with my dad right by her side. They treated him and his dog with kindness and compassion and didn’t rush the process. I would absolutely recommend this clinic if you can’t get into see your vet right away! They were knowledgeable and kind.

The Omnivet was able to get me in the same day I called when my dog was not feeling well. They even had me come in three hours earlier than originally planned, which was very much appreciated. The staff was all very kind and patient. They were able to give my dog a treatment that worked and had him back to normal in a couple days. I even called with some follow up questions a handful of times and was always provided an answer in a friendly manner. I would highly recommend the Omnivet to all that might need them.

Our 7 month old kitten, very naughty very chewy, ate a cat toy and ingested several hard plastic pieces. His regular vet examined him and we determined together that he needed immediate surgery to remove the pieces. They couldn't perform surgery that day so rather than wait til the next day we decided together that emergency surgery was the right choice. My vet recommended Omnivet and I am very grateful for that recommendation. Dr. Van Fleet and the entire staff were fantastic during our initial phone call and arrival. They discussed the costs thoroughly. The doctor called me right after surgery to discuss the outcome and I really appreciated that call was from him versus a tech. You can really tell how much he cares for his patients and their parents. Our kitten was kept overnight for observation and we received a call in the morning to update us on progress and to let us know what time we could pick him up that day. Considering the outcome of the day could have been catastrophic (no pun intended) Dr. Van Fleet and the staff at Omnivet made the experience as positive as possible and I now have them on speed dial. I will most definitely refer them to my family, friends, and clients in the future!
