How to Save Money at A W Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Brought our kitty up there for a cataract issue and everyone there was very polite and easy to work with. We would’ve had to drive an hour and a half to an eye specialist, and pay $300 dollars just to get it looked at. This office is efficient and affordable, the doctors and nurses are very dedicated and compassionate. They definitely care for the animals coming in and gave very helpful advice. Wonderful office, if you’re looking for a good vet come here!

the doctor that works fridays absolutely sucks, i came in with my doggo after he came inside with a big gash on his butt. the doctor prescribed him medication after never running tests or figuring out what caused it and told me it could be from an “ant” when there’s no possible way an ant could do that. the assistant ladies were nice and very helpful but couldn’t do too much because of the doctor they work for. the lady named lisa at the front desk was very rude and literally sighed in my face when i told her there was something still wrong with my dog. i asked for a total before doing any procedure and they showed me a paper that said $299 with all the medication on it and everything but once i got up to the front desk the total became $360something due to them adding on charges they did not tell me about until it was time to pay. overall my experience wasn’t good and i will not be coming back & you shouldnt either.

My pets have seen a few of the doctors at this location but my best exprience was with the owner, i didn't catch his name on 10/30/2024. But he was absolutely amazing and kind. He listened to our concerns and went over past appointment findings. Our Maggie has bounced back and is feeling so much better after her visit. Thank you so much for your help that morning. 💜

I will forever be grateful to all the receptionists, the techs, and the Dr. When I had to put down my dog back in November of 2023, they made sure he was comfortable, and went peacefully. They walked me through every step of the process during mine and my children’s worst moment of loosing a family pet, and even though they were closing at that time, I didn’t feel rushed. They were very kind afterwards to my family by allowing us to leave when ready. Now we have a new puppy and she’s 11 weeks old. I’ve been bringing her here since she was 8 weeks old when we finally got to bring her home from the breeder. It is very easy to make appointments, and the staff is very gentle and loving towards the animals. They answer all of my questions. Every-time I’ve been in there, they’re working hard answering the phones, and making sure the customers are taken care of. I won’t ever go anywhere else and keep bringing her as long as they allow me to. I trust them with my puppy. That’s rare now days. Thanks A W Animal Hospital. You’re the best! And Ahsoka says hello ! 🥰

I can not even explain how grateful I am for the doctors and the staff. We took our dog in, who was very sick, even sicker than we all thought. He liked to eat everything and most of the time he would pass whatever he ate. Well, the day came where he didn't pass it and we had to take him in. He had to have surgery to have the blockage removed. Once they got in there, the doctor said he would of recommended euthanasia if he had known how bad he was but because he was already in there, and he is so young that he decided to do everything we can to save him. He had a blockage that looks like was there for awhile and it ended up putting 3 holes in his intestines and all that was going into his body. They had to remove about 6-9 inches of his intestines. He was so skinny and had the fight of his life. Robyn was absolutely amazing with him. She was the nurse that was taking care of him. Actually everyone there was amazing and loved him. After 3 days he was able to come home. When we called that Saturday morning and they told us he was a nut case we knew he was almost back to himself. It actually put tears in my eyes. When he came home Robin told us we could call her anytime day or night if we had any questions and she even called Sunday morning to check on him. I can not explain how grateful I am for everyone there. Thank you so much.
