How to Save Money at East Holland Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Thank you to Susan for her warm greeting and helping accommodate our senior dog on her first visit from the moment we arrived until our departure. Location, parking, entrance, all easy and very nice. Thank you to Dr. Fritz for his thoughtful first examination and suggestions for care.

Feeling disappointed. We've brought our animals here for years and have always come to our appointments. Today I called to set up an appointment for my daughter's guinea pigs and was told they have a new policy. They are now charging ahead of time a fee of $91 per guinea pig just to make the appointment, as a down payment before they're even seen. The woman on the phone said it was because some customers don't show up for their appointments. So, East Veterinary Clinic has decided that everyone else will now apparently be punished for those that don't show up. I told her that was too bad because we would need to wait until next week for pay day then, to schedule an appointment since we can't schedule unless we pay $182 now. My chiropractor does this too but they simply take your credit card info and hold unto it unless you don't show up to your appointment and are then charged a fee. Only the person who fails to show up is charged, not everyone else. Yes, they apply that $180 towards your appointment once there, but for college students like my daughters, that's a lot of money. They live paycheck to paycheck. They were going to get paid on the Thursday before the appointment on Friday, and it wouldn't have been a problem. I understand the Clinics frustrations with no-shows, but I think they need to find a better solution for this. My daughter called a few other veterinarian places and they do not have this policy. So, just be aware that now to make an appointment at East Veterinary Clinic in Holland, you will need to pay for your visit ahead of time. If you are unable to do that, there are other clinics in the area that told us they do not do this.

Very professional office. The staff make sure u realize the costs before they proceed, a very nice benefit... no sticker shock at the desk(!) Handled my dear Teddy most compassionately. Took in back for his shots so I didn't have to watch him 'yelp' about it.

We are new to the area and our experience with the East Holland Vet Clinic team has been so pleasant! We’ve had two out of the ordinary cases with our dogs and Dr. Fritz and team were amazing in helping us understand and deal with the situations we faced. One starting treatment and the other is a difficult pathway we have in front of us with cancer. Although, and with Dr Fritz, it’s helping us deal with and possibly treat our dog for comfort and more years if possible. Thank you Dr. Fritz and the whole team at EHVC, you’ve been very welcoming, wonderful to deal with, and the utmost help! Our search is over, we’ve finally found our vet for years to come!!!
