How to Save Money at VetMED Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I wouldn't send anyone here, they only can handle a easy job an diagnosis. I took my cat sonny boy here for a pre diagnosed problem from a very good vet in flint that recommended a full service. He was badly constipated and needed feces removed, vet med charged me for unnecessary things for 3 days and added up to over 800 dollars and after my cat left there place he couldn't walk he was in severe pain. They left a iv port in his paw an only sent stool softener home. after my cat wasn't getting up to go potty I took him back to flint, it resulted in him having to be put down because vet med didn't do their job of fixing him and my family is traumatized. Had to put our therapy pet down after paying 800 dollars to fix him and he was constipated. These pictures are of my poor babies state before he was put out of pain. I had to bath him everyday after leaving there office because he didn't have energy to get up🥺😢😭😩😿💔 I am totally unhappy with there services, and they don't handle problems either.

I've always had great service from the team here. Recently, my dog underwent surgery to remove a tumor from her paw. Dr. Moody did an incredible job of explaining every step of the procedure to me, Kyleigh gave a thorough rundown of each of the medications and aftercare steps, and David was very friendly and kind to me. I love that my dog and I have such a great place to receive care!

Our dog was a patient for about 8 years. She had no medical problems until one day she had difficulty breathing. After about a week of muscle weakness and repeated calls to the clinic with questions about her symptoms. I was told to bring her in if she had difficulty breathing.. I woke up and found her having great difficulty breathing and called for an appointment then was told it would be approximately 3 weeks. I explained the urgency of the matter and was told again there are no appointments. We took her to the clinic so that she could get emergency help. They refused to take a look at her or help her in any way (there were no dogs or humans in the waiting room at all and no one was waiting to bring their dog in). Are sweet dog ended up dying after 4 days at MSU of pneumonia. We can't help but think maybe she would have had more of a chance if they had helped us when we asked instead of making her suffer .It's a shame that you dedicate loyalty to a clinic and you trust them to take care of your drug for 8 years and then they won't help you in an emergency. I hope this helps another family to find a better vet for their dog that will help them if the dog needs emergency care.

Dr. Moody and the rest of the staff are hands down the best. They do their best to accommodate both you and your furry companions at an affordable price. Thanks for taking such good care of our dog! See you again soon!
