How to Save Money at Medomak Veterinary Services

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Very good with my cat!! The vets and vet techs are great with animals, very kind, and nice to talk with. They were quick and nicely communicated the process of everything before just doing it. Thank you very much! My cat Surprise had a good visit, we will be back. If you’re looking for a good vet to go to, this is the place.

Been to a lot of veterinary businesses across this country through the years only to discover that the best of the best was right here in my own backyard. Doctor Art Charles and the rest of the staff are outstanding. His professional service and deep experience shows on every level. While no veterinary clinic is inexpensive, they do try to offer service options to what may be more affordable while keeping the health of your pet as the primary objective. My dogs do not fear this clinic at all. That is the gold standard.

Our son's girlfriend's dog is spending the winter with us until May. He went out on Easter night to do his duty and ran into a porcupine. Careful, this is the time they are coming out again. I called the office and tbey saw him right away on Monday morning. We were in and out in less than 1.5 hr. Their assistant even lifted him into my pickup truck after sedation. Cappy is very happy and well! Very nice staff, a great office! Thank you for being ready to help our fur family!

My dog Hudson does not like going to the vets he has always been aggressive to other dogs so when I do need to go I muzzle him. Needless to say it is a very stressful situation for the both of us. On top of that after making an appointment I have a wait time ranging between 20 minutes to 1 hour for my dog to be seen. I had him microchipped, noticed the chip was sticking 75% out of his back and made another appointment to get it reinstalled. After another stressful appointment which ended in not having the chip replaced I decided to take my business elsewhere. They refused to refund me. Forced me to dispute the charge. If your looking for a veterinary service that can accommodate unruly pets or simply has the decency to refund what was clearly poor service look elsewhere. So do you always believe what your employees tell you over your customers? Makes sense, I probably called my credit card company and disputed it for no reason then. I also probably went through the hassle of bringing my dog down when I didn't look up what a micro chip looked like and where they are located. My mistake. Respectable business. To bad I have nothing to gain because I was already refunded the money by my credit card company and your employees have everything to because they are mistreating customers without your knowledge like many others have posted here and your response is always "Thats not what happened". You don't know what happened you were told by someone that had a vested interest.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever witnessed.. My son's family's kitty was very sick. He is a client here.. my son called at noon they said with out charging an emergency charge they would see him the following day.. by 3 pm he was getting worse his fiance called saying he really should be seen as he was worse.. the receptionist said it would be and emergency call and really should wait til the following days appointment or wait til 530 to go to the Warren vet clinic as they themselves closed at 5pm she said she could be there by 4pm.. they rushed them through saying it was a virus.. by 730 they had the kitty at the Warren clinic and told he probably wouldn't have made it til morning Time for a new Veterinarian!... Update; kitty passed away test pending with another Veterinarian..
