How to Save Money at Carroll County Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My family have been bringing our fur children here since 2020. The staff were always top-notch and explained everything extremely well. However, our last visit I saw a village helping my boy get well. When he went in he was so impacted and in pain. The lady’s were gentle and caring with both, him and me as they went above and beyond proving service to us. The sense of unity, belonging, and care given that this office is astounding. I

My Frenchie, Beauregard (Beau) recently became a patient at this practice. Over the last 5 months Beau has been uncontrollably panting, particularly at night. On his first visit, he saw Dr. Wimmer and she diagnosed him with joint issues. For about 2 and a half months, his pain seemed to be under control, but about a week ago, he resumed panting. Bulldog breeds pant anyway, but this panting continued thru the night. No one was getting any sleep. On very short notice, Dr. Allison agreed to see Beau yesterday and she performed various X-rays and determined that Beau has extensive joint issues and arthritis. She prescribed two prescription protocols which seem to be working but will have to wait to see full benefits. Beki, the vet tech who worked with Beau is fabulous. She gave him an injection and performed some laser therapy on Beau’s back and hips. Beau normally doesn’t cosy up to anyone at the vets, but this is not the case with Beki and I believe she is his new girlfriend. I am willing to do almost anything that helps Beau’s pain and I am impressed with this practice because they offer some cutting edge alternatives to help with a dog’s orthopedic pain. Great staff and a pleasant and CLEAN facility. Unfortunately Beau’s health concerns were more serious than what we first thought. His breathing and panting were so labored we decided that Beau should go to the Rainbow Bridge and wait for his Poppy and Mom. Dr. Allison and our vet tech, Beki carried out the steps for Beau’s passing in a humane and caring way. Their consoling meant so much to me and my partner. I have owned three bully breeds over a 20 year span and have made my way through many vet practices and I assure you this clinic is the best and is deservant of 5+ stars.

I have been taking my dogs their for as long as I can remember. This is the best vet I have ever gone too. They care about my dog and wanting the best for him but they also care about me to the point where they will text me personally to give me let’s say my dogs bloodwork status/ update. They also care to the point where they don’t care all about money like they won’t offer me things that I don’t need which is a relief to know they are not stuck up. Not only that but they keep detailed records of your animal to the point where they let you know when your animal is in need of vaccines or anything along those lines. I legit could go on and on about how awesome this veterinarian clinic is along with the people who work their who just love their jobs and the animals they see everyday but I think this pretty much sums how I feel about this place. Would 100% recommend going to.

Awesome caring vets and techs. Our boy George is 10 and he has been going all his life. They treat him like family ! He is a nervous wreck but they know him well. Nice new exam rooms and oral surgery price he needed today was very reasonable !

I've been a frequent flyer here for nearly 10 years with 7 senior pets -- each with their own special needs. The team is so kind and competent. I fully trust them to help give my critters the best quality of life. Absolutely recommend.
