How to Save Money at Glenvilah Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I cannot say enough good things about the team at Glenvilah. For over a decade of my dog’s life, they provided us with compassionate, professional, and informed healthcare. Specifically, Dr. Christina Scalco treated my dog like one of her own - she provided thorough diagnoses, clear recommendations, and always welcomed us with an open heart. Her deep love for animals and veterinary expertise gave me peace of mind especially as my dog experienced more ailments in the later stages of his life. When my dog passed away recently, she and the Glenvilah team were prompt to reach out and offer their condolences and ongoing support. I highly recommend Dr. Scalco if you’re looking for a vet who will treat you like family and provide unconditional love and care for your beloved pet.

Glenvilah is great! I recommend them to anyone who has a pet. I have a puppy so this clinic was recommended to me and I couldn’t be happier. Everyone is very kind, patient and welcoming. During these tough times they’re doing curbside pickup/drop off but I think the quality of service is still excellent. Once my puppy is taken back, I either get a phone call from the doctor or I am able to speak to the doctor after the visit. They review things in detail, provide excellent resources for first time pet owners, etc. I know some pets get anxious going to the vet, but Bella LOVES going (probably because they give her PB and kibble lol). I know that Bella is in great hands at Glenvilah and I highly recommend this clinic if you’re looking for quality service! Also, they’re really great with communication :)

This place is highly rated, but my treatment has been the most awful possible. I had an appointment scheduled no issues, but 4 weeks prior I politely canceled due to me having life-threatening health issues. And they even called 2-3x in the meantime almost persuading me come in. I thought it was kinda odd, but no biggie. Since she was pleasant. Fast forward to the present, and my lovely dog has some alarming symptoms going on. So, I then called literally minutes after my neighbor called the same vet. They were so flexible and willing to help. They provided her with many options, snd he pet has no pressing issues. My dog has blood pouring from her rectum. So, I then called and as soon as she heard who it was, she instantly starting referring me elsewhere saying they can’t help . That they just won’t. This is a private business, so they can help who they want. But I’m telling the whole story here. I don’t owe them money, nor did I cancel last minute. I canceled over a month before my visit. And it’s clear they don’t like me, my dog or think I’m a liar. With how much I was called and solicited after my cancellation, it’s clear it’s about money and money only. I truly feel discriminated against, as there are many great reviews here. This is really awful. And this is only my second 1 star review I’ve ever posted. And if I could do negative, I would. My dog is my world, and I fear this is becoming the beginning of thr end for my pretty girl :(

I am extremely disappointed in the service I was given. I have been taking all my dogs to Glenvilah Vet for years and I’ve referred others as well. However, since last year they have made some major changes from staffing, price, reminders etc. I made am appointment a month ago for my dog. When I arrived I was told the Doctor was running behind bc they are short staff. Then I find out it’s not even with the vet I made the appointment with bc apparently she is on leave. At this point I’m upset but proceed to wait. In the end 35 minutes had past and they say unfortunately it will be a longer wait. I ask them why they didn’t call to inform me of the lateness and they say oh we thought it was only going to be five or ten minutes. I have come to this vet even knowing they are more expensive bc I loved the service and the staff. Now I am sad to say I will be finding another vet.

I've been taking my dogs to Glenvilah for over 30 years. Quality care. Great staff and docs. Friendly and welcoming. I've recommended Glenvilah to friends and they, too, have been happy with the quality and care their pets have received.
